Ever since I bought my manual 2023 Jeep JL Rubicon 3.6L I have had a suction noise that seems to come from the dash. It usually presents at around 25-30mph as I accelerate from a stop. It sounds like a hissing/sucking noise and sometimes it fizzles at the end. I have attached a video of the sound- you have to listen closely. I brought it to the dealership and they initially said they would reseal the windshield. After I told them it definitely is not coming from the windshield they started to blame it on the things I have installed (GMRS radio) but then admitted to not being able to duplicate the sound.

I was wondering if anyone knew what this sound could possibly be from?

I can't hear anything in the video that sounds off. I know you said it wasn't the windshield BUT just as something to try have you tightened down the windshield bolts? Mine started making weird sounds that seemed like they were coming from the vents but turns out my bolts were loose and that was the problem.

Start on 5s in the video? That’s so weird, Mine only makes the sound of plastic parts rubbing together.

Yeah it is probably best heard at the 5 second mark but you can hear it before then too. Don’t think it’s related to the windshield. Possibly an air conditioning issue. The dealership could not find any failed part and don’t have a solution for me.

Switch between recirculate and fresh air and see if the noise changes. Mine does. On Recirc it sounds like a windshield seal leak.

Hey all, I have this exact problem (I think ?).

Just started noticing it at around 1,800mi in my 2025 JLUR 3.6MT.

It’s an air movement/sucking noise that is variable with RPMs (not speed as I can recreate it revving at a light).

it’s coming from the dash, somewhere to the left/above the steering wheel. It’s hard to isolate it while behind the wheel. But it doesn’t seem like it’s coming from the defroster vent itself.

It’s not really audible in a recording/video, but definitely noticeable, enough for my wife to ask if my door was cracked open.

adjusting climate controls doesn’t seem to have any impact, including turning off altogether.

any thoughts @alphawolff ??

I've experianced something similar in my 23 manual. I feel like it has something to do with the HVAC system but I can't seem to recreate it.

I never noticed in my 22 manual but I only had it for 4 months before it was totaled.

Twisting the volume knob clockwise takes care of it. 😁

my 2-door does this as well along the left a-pillar. i tried looking for air leaks but didnt really find anything. it's some weird built quality issue as my 392 doesn't have the same issue. comes and goes depending on cross wind/speed it seems

it’s not outside air though, it will happen at a stop when I rev the motor. It seems directly tied to RPMs, like it’s drawing air, though obviously the engine air intake is under the hood, not in the dash.

verify your firewall's plugs are all intact. my 392's plug fell out and i could hear the vacuum pump and exhaust loudly through the firewall right below the brake booster
