So my 2019 Rubicon with factory LED light package just had the passenger side headlight quit working. This is my first vehicle with LED headlights. Do I really need to replace the entire unit? The dealer quoted me $1,000 for the part. Also, I can't find replacements online that aren't kits for halogen to LED conversion or blacked out. I am perfectly happy with the factory headlights. Am I missing something? Thanks!

That seems steep for one light. Did they diagnose what was wrong with it? For that kind of money I would look for a replacement set of aftermarket LEDs. Most of those are plug-and-play that you can do yourself.

Unless the entire unit went bad (halo DRL and all) seems odd they want to replace the entire thing

The halo is working fine. Is there any other option for getting the headlight working besides replacing the whole thing?

The only option I can think of is there are shops that specialize in repair, but you'd probably have to send it out to them. I can't recommend any particular shop, but i know they exist.

They'd have to determine if it was the LED bulb itself or part of the circuitry and then replace what's needed.

This is the downside of sealed, proprietary LED OE headlight assemblies instead of standard replacement bulbs. They should be good for the life of the vehicle, but when they aren't, they leave the owner in a lurch.

The part numbers for OEM are:
Drivers Side 55112879AG
Passenger 55112878AG

When my headlights got stolen last year I bought a set of replacements from RockAuto.

RockAuto Headliamps for 21 Wrangler 3.6

They have the OEM lights for $600 - $700, or Depo Brand OE replacements for $323 - $360. The ones for $360 are CAPA certified.

I bought the Depo brand CAPA certified ones. Replacement is easy and the aiming / setup isn’t hard.

I totally understand the people that are highly against doing anything aftermarket on their cars. But something like this I don’t understand why not just buy aftermarket led headlights? For like five or 600 bucks you can get both headlight assemblies replaced with an aftermarket one that frankly looks way better than the originals. Why not just go that route?

That just isn't right. I just replaced both my headlight for just over$200. The only thing I can think of is that they have to pull the grill off the Jeep to get to the bolts. Thats takes all of 10 minutes (very simple). Just buy the headlight and replace it yourself. Piece of cake..

Where did you find the headlight for that price? Thanks
