When the weather is warm (above 90° F) and the Jeep is warm (driving a few hours) we get a very strong raw fuel odor inside the vehicle. Can't smell it on the outside. When we turn the air recirculate off it seems to flush it out of the cabin. It seems only to happen when the recirc is on, but can't tell for sure. Before we try investigating a lot of different things thought I would check here to see if anyone has had a similar issue.

2 392’s in Colorado in August and both of us had this issue coming down every mountain pass. All we could put together was at elevation, vehicle pointing down, both 392’s. We had JL, JT, and JK in our group and none had the issue. Dealer in OK on mine said nothing they could find. Dealer in AZ other 392 said same nothing wrong. There is a threat on 392 forum about it with no resolutions.

Could this possibly be an issue I've read about on this forum regarding blend door/actuator? I've searched, found discussion, but not a final verdict. HVAC blend door was dumping external air into the cab periodically. I also read that some actuators were operating erratically.

Not sure if that could contribute to a "strong fuel odor." Just a thought.
