Let me preface this with it's happened just once, tonight. So it could just be a gremlin.

I was driving home from work on the highway this evening and noticed this rhythmic stall or stutter, not sure what to call it. Stall isn't the right word but the best i can think of.

I would be cruising and every few seconds it felt like either the brakes were being tapped/the transmission would shift into neutral for a second/felt like you hit a huge head wind. Like it's enough of a jolt for me to physically feel it each time. There was no drop of RPMs, speed wasn't really changing and it only happened while cruising, not at acceleration or deceleration. I shifted in neutral and cruised for a few seconds and thought that fixed it, but nope, it just didn't happen while in N but came back when I shifted back to drive. Also shifted into manual mode and that seemed to fix it, though I still could kind of feel it in 8th, but not in 7th or lower. In full auto that was not the case it happened in 7 and 8th. No codes, no lights, no crazy wheeling trips or anything, just normal driving.

Seemed to be fine this AM.

2.0, zf8, sahara JLU, w/33s, 26k miles. Looking for any insight here!

no issues this AM during the commute, so I'll take it!

Anyone have any insight here?

I don't have enough miles on my 2.0 to really give much insight, but could it have been your AC pump engaging when the engine wasn't under load, but was in gear? Just spitballing...

A/C was on at the time, that's possible. I've used the AC in hotter times and haven't noticed. Didn't think about that!

I just had the same thing this afternoon, 3500 miles on a '23. It felt like a misfire, so thinking a throttle position sensor. I had the A/C on as well.

I had this happened to me as well, a couple months back. Stumble felt like a miss, and did it quite a few times in a rhythmic pattern until I canceled cruise. I was in cruise, A/C On, on the interstate. I racked it up to maybe not the best tank of gas. I haven't had it happen again. I have 30k miles on my 20, this was around 28k and change probably. I would hope my plugs are still in good shape at this mileage, but I haven't checked that either.

Felt like a misfire of sorts. In my case it was very consistent when in drive. I don't think i tested it in cruise. I was trying to figure out why shifting to manual shifting would have made it stop. Though i guess that would point to a sensor perhaps?

I've only had it that once. Have used cruise, driven in hot temps with ac and crawling on the beach in hot temps and no problems.

You'd hope plugs are good but at the end lf the day not the worst fix in the world!

My Jeep is doing this exact same thing. Except it’s been doing all day. I just put some octane booster in case it’s bad gas.
