Question for @JeepCares -- can you help us understand what is actually going on when a Jeep is in Status I of the build process? Some folks breeze through in less than a day, some get stuck there for 2-3 weeks, and some even lose their Jeeps after spending weeks in this step. The lack of transparency makes it seem like FCA is trying to prevent us from knowing if an issue was discovered and is waiting to be repaired.

Should we just assume that if our Jeep is in Status I for more than a day, something didn't pass the quality checks and is waiting to be repaired? Or is there any other reason why a Jeep would be in this status for multiple days or weeks?

Thank you!

I am one of the fortunate to be stuck in “I” status. Going on 21 Days with no answers. A case has been opened but the answer given is we are still in launch phase we will update you when we know etc... My main concern is what exactly is causing the failure of QC, and what is the remedy? Jeep Chat reps are showing their frustrations when I call in. I understand their frustrations but please give us answers so we can plan ahead. I’ve turned in my lease vehicle. This has gone from an exciting process to an nightmare. A lot of us work directly in supply chain capacities, I would not get this type of run around professionally.

On a side note, the JL is phenomenal. Hopefully the issues can be resolved so I can bring one home.

I have been in "I" for 19 days. When I called they couldn't tell me what needed to be fixed, they just said call back in a week. I plan to call again on Friday to see if they can give me any answers. I am hoping since I have been hung up in Inspection, maybe I will breeze through JB and shipping. This process has been so frustrating but I know it will be worth it. Just wish I was one of the people with her jeep telling everyone else it is worth it.:headbang:

Back when the reprocess manager (Drillionaire) was posting on Reddit, he stated that the biggest issue was backlog. There were as many as 2500 "I" status JL's waiting to get into the repair garage at any given time. The great majority were held for very simple repairs like a sheared bolt. However, the information systems documenting these issues appear to be restricted to the engineering staff. All evidence to date is that none of the FCA support staff have access to such information so I'd be surprised if @JeepCares is truly responsuve.

At least one customer has reported that once you reach 21 days in "I", the vehicle was considered to have failed the inspection, at which point a new vehicle is ordered. I've not seen confirmation of an official policy to that effect.

@JeepCares - please help! These are your most engaged and excited fans! You are just alienating and frustrating us by not providing more transparency into what is going on.

Drillionaire also stated that when the JK line shut down, the JK mechanics were transferred to the JL line, he had hopes that the backlog would quickly be reduced. This information was presented to us a very short time before his demise.

I ordered mine on 3/17 and I have been in I status since 4/17. Customer support stated yesterday that my JLUR has passed inspection and is awaiting final inspection. They claim it is first come first serve with over 2000 vehicles in the queue for inspection. They stated the more options installed would cause inspection to take longer. I have been calling weekly for updates and received several prepared statements to explain.

Pretty sure that's crap. My understanding is that all vehicles are inspected as they progress through the assembly process so that there is no final inspection queue taking weeks. You are either certified as passed as your vehicle leaves the line and move into "J" status, or you fail and move into "I". If you are one of the 2,000 in "I" status, it means you didn't pass inspection and are queued for repairs.

Does @JeepCares really care? Just tell us the truth. It's perfectly understandable that some of the completed Jeeps need to have parts repaired or replaced, but tell us what's really going on. Don't make us guess which rumors are true and speculate about what's going on. If Status I is a repair queue, just say so. If it's not, tell us why one Jeep spends practically no time in that status and another one spends weeks in it.

Crap indeed. Been getting the form letter runaround answers. And I won’t even get into what the dealer is telling me. Told him yesterday that his and Jeep’s excuses are totally different. “Tell them anything...just make it go away”

WELL WELL WELL:

CASE #: 34061116 Dear Charlie: I am writing with an update on your 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon! Due to the length of time your vehicle was inspection (33 days) FCA has cloned your factory order. Cloning is a manufacturing process for vehicles that sit too long in one status. The factory put through a second order with the same specs and make sure that the clone keeps moving through production as does not sit in one specific status for too long. Your new vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1C4HJXFG6 XXXXXXX. Please note that cloned orders do not get pushed to the back of the system - they are prioritized and shipped as quickly as possible. I will continue to track the status of your 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon order & will provide email updates as they become available. We appreciate your patience. Sincerely, Nicole Jeep Product Information Center.

So the original build was tash after all.

@JeepCares - It really is frustrating to be told false information. FCA can't continue to pretend the Internet doesn't exist. Everyone who is closely watching their build knows that when it enters Status I, it could ship out the next day, or it could be delayed a week or two (for unknown reasons), or it could get "lost" and need to be rebuilt. The official information that we get does not reflect this reality. Instead, we get misinformation, which just creates ill will and mistrust. You can do better than this!

I sat in "I" Status for about 16 days. I found out at the end, they had installed the wrong hood, I ordered a JLUR, so I'd imagine they accidentally put a regular hood on it. It then moved to JB, where it's been for 5 days. While I could understand issues come up, the lack of transparency is painful. Especially in the light of people, who fortunately sail through the process quickly. I sadly ordered a few options, so who knows how long I'll stay in JB status.

I am talking to jeep chat now and they are forwarding the phone number 866-362-2146, which sadly I've been calling on a daily basis. An well as an email address; [email protected].
