Yeah, Android Auto isn't as cool, it's actually rather lame, but I only ever use it for Google maps, so not a big deal.Apple car play. Or whatever it's called when you plug an iPhone in.
A few memories from younger days...
Left Minnesota in a snow storm on our way south one February. LONG day of driving, stopped that night at some hotel. Woke up early and walked to the desk to check out. It was sleeting outside, a little ice here and there. People were going nuts. I'm not a morning person... so as I wandered up to the desk in my Minnesota sweatshirt I asked what the problem was. She looked up and said "Minnesota? Honey, you're in TEXAS now..."
Another day; -20F, sun was out, no wind. Temps that cold are neat if you're ready for them. Air is crystal clear, Jets overhead sound different, the snow crunches when you walk on it. And nothing in the car moves when you sit down in it, assuming the door handle doesn't break off in your hand when you try to use it...
But the one I found funniest in a demented sort of way... Minneapolis airport. Standing near the baggage claim and watching people who have obviously never seen cold weather walking towards the door in their light jackets and even occasionally shorts. The look on their faces when they race back inside... yep, that's what 20 below feels like. Kinda stings, doesn't it? ;-)
Just checked it, it's -15 out and -39 with wind chill. Oil temp was -9 to start and coolant was 0.did anyone check the oil temp at startup (I use the off road pages app), most synthetics brands state it will flow down to minus 30-40 degrees? My oil was the same temperature as the weather 23 degrees at startup.
Local news reported the temps here in Chicago were colder then in Alaska this week. Was about -25 without windchill last night. About -45 with wind. Supposed to be -20 again tonight. About -10 now. City is empty. Not many cars or people out. Zero traffic! First time in a long time for that. lol. This thread is making me laugh. +25F at my place this morning... in Fairbanks, Alaska.
