Trying to find a tutorial/vid on how to splice into rear 12v hookup to splice into power to install led light strip. I assume it is a constant.

Or thoughts on connecting into dome light. Looking to have better light in rear when hatch is open.

I installed this light and it works great. The rear outlet can be setup two ways. Default is hot all the time. Or you can move the fuse to get hot only with the ignition power on. I posted pictures of my setup to the site.

CAn you wire it directly? Without having to use the 12v plug?
Yes, just pull panel and tap wires behind. Both 12v plug and cargo light will have two wires, power and ground. Use meter to verify. I would use the cargo light where it would work automatically with door. Led light would draw very little amperage so no problem.

@Brownpow121

This thread will give you info in regard to switching that rear 12v to either always on or on with ignition only.

Before working on / if you cut into the wires on that 12v receptacle, do pull the yellow fuse you will find in fuse slot F43 or F45 in the Power Distribution Center (PDC).

After you do your cut splicing.... when you are confident you have the wiring right.... then re-insert that yellow fuse you pulled into fuse slot F43 or F45 dictated by whether you want power to that 12v on all the time or only when the ignition is on.
