I was just giving you the formula. How the charge originated, I leave as an execise for the student.... perhaps the differential lies in you - do you wear lots of wool? ?
Just my Pacas socks.

I sure it would but then i would be generating the static charge, the fenders had one for some reason.
That's true. You can do the same thing to walls, and I don't think they're inherently static-charged. I'm not the best at science, either! ?

Maybe your garage floor?
Why do doorknobs get charged? Or maybe it's the human that is charged and then the knob gives it a place to go?
Yeah -- I used to be gooder at science stuff. ?

I worked at a company that made plastic tubes (i.e. toothpaste, shampoo, etc). Static electricity is a major thing when it comes to plastic. We had lots of grounding copper hairs hanging down just to reduce the amount of static that would build up. Plus, they make dry bulk hose that has a copper wire wound in it that is used to ground it. They use that hose to deliver the resin that made the fenders on your Jeep. Why? Static electric. Plastic parts will build that up again even after they are molded. There is an antistat agent you can put into plastic but not good for many applications.

Pretty sure that you were the source of the static and not the fenders themselves. The fenders were just a place that the static was looking to discharge itself from you into the Jeep.

Maybe it was those corduroy pants you were wearing.
