What is the silver roll in the pastic bag for?
The new JL shades attach differently than the JK version - no more Spiderballs! The "silver roll" is actually several small spools or bungs that attach to the Jeep's roll bar with a screw and then the bungee loop (sewn into the new SWS) attaches to the bung. I don't know what they are actually called, although someone is has started calling them "SpiderNubbins!

I’ve got one of these for my JK and love it in the summer. Only use it when the soft top is on and pull it when the hard top goes back on the fall. While it can be used with either the hard top or soft time, it would be a pain in the ass to undo the latches for the freedom panels with the Spiderweb Shade installed.

Yes, you don't have to fully drop, if you have a helper, you can just lean forward a little to get the clips on. If you drop fully, make sure to remove your wipers or you will damage.

It's how the shade attaches now. You simple remove factory hardware, and reinstall these mounts with it. The bungees attach to the mounts.

As far as I can see, those plastic pieces are just trim, not actual seals. I have been running mine for weeks in Florida where it rain everyday practically with no issues.

I think he meant the new cords are running under the existing factory seal and compressing it slightly.

I cant tell in the front window how the gasket seals to the body and where it hits cords to see if its gonna start to deform it (some people already have issues with noise here so tis not a good thing
