I'm getting infested with spiders in the Jeep. They're making webs in the windshield, dash, under my seats, back seats.

They're working overtime. Making blankets and thick webs.

Anyone had this issue and have non toxic ways to set traps or get rid of them?

haven’t had any spider issues. Recently had an ant infestation in the trunk. Picked up my freedom panel bag to toss the panels in it before I left work and there was hundreds of ants and what appeared to be a shit load of eggs. Took the cargo mat out, shook the fuckers off it , tossed it back in and started to drive home. Ended up with ants all over me during my 45 minute drive. Anyway, got home and gave the interior a good vacuum and tossed a few bait traps in the back. Couple days later they were all gone.

Essential oils, eucalyptus and lavender being two of the better choices. Add ~20 drops of oil to 8 oz. of water in a spray bottle. Apply where needed.

What's even more effective is vinegar, but the scent would be problematic.

The foregoing is suggested since it may be free, depending on what you have in your cabinets right now. They're also safer than store-bought chemicals, although these may be more effective in the short term. The oils deter; the chemicals kill.

We have loads of eucalyptus here. I'll try some small cups or bags of eucalyptus.

Hopefully that works. It's annoying as hell. They don't come out. They're all hiding.

Unlike some other posts where people will ask "where's the pics" or "pics or didn't happen", I thank you for NOT posting pics of your spider problem ??

As for the problem itself, is your Jeep outside or garage kept?

This is more preventative than an answer for your Jeep infestation, but if in the garage, I use Ortho Home Defense to keep most of the crawling critters out of the garage. I spray along all of the wall edges at the floor and run a few lines of spray where the garage door meets the concrete and also the corners where the garage door meets the sidewalls. It works remarkably well to keep the crawler type of insects out of the garage and the nooks and crannies they like to get into.

And getting them out of the Jeep...I second the irritant types of scents. Anything that will be "breathed" by the spiders and end up causing irritation or suffocation. I use cedar blocks and squares in my basement to keep the crawlers out of a sound room I use for recording and mixing. It does a decent job

With the amount of infestation you're describing, you may need to pull carpet for peace of mind that you got all the egg sacs in addition to the spiders themselves out if they've been in the Jeep that long.

We're all friends here, so please accept this photo of a large wolf spider taking a break, adjacent to the sump pit in my basement. ☺

I got bit by a Hobo Spider once on my side, I rolled over on him or something in sleep. Took like 6 to 9 months to fully heal. Was crazy, the center of the bite sort of decayed and caved in and it was bullseye looking thing.

Thanks for reading!

Hobo? Or brown recluse? The former isn't considered to have a medically significant bite. More to the point, the bullseye is the classic wound aesthetic most frequently linked with the latter, as is prolonged healing. Decay, or necrosis, merely reinforces this connection.

Just curious.

Yeah could have been they look similar, with military moving in and out god knows what critters hitch rides with everyone coming and going.

Yes but was about half dollar size maybe little bigger and the center was like a crater. Had to wear a bandage cut over it for a good while. Nasty, but didn't even wake me up was just sore as the day progress then itchy then just ugh...

And if that doesn't work, try diatomaceous earth.

You're fortunate, Scott. Recluse bites are medically significant. The appearance and healing time of the wound could have led to non-minor tissue loss if not handled as good as it seems your bite was managed. ?

Residual insecticides don’t work on spiders. Even if they walk through the insecticide, it won’t affect them because, unlike insects, they don’t clean their exoskeleton with their mouths. They don’t even have an exoskeleton, and they don’t groom like insects.

A bug bomb might work, because the insecticide is inhaled.

We have had to deal with invasive brown widows, and invasive, HUGE, Huntsman spiders in our vehicles. The Huntsman give me the willies! My wife was driving in town one day, looked at her rear view mirror, and there were spider legs COMPLETELY WRAPPED AROUND the upper and lower edges of the mirror, from the Huntsman on the back of it! They can achieve a leg span of five to six inches, and they move like lightning.

Fortunately my wife isn’t freaked out by such things.

About the only thing you can do about spiders in a vehicle is to physically remove them, or deprive them of food by using insecticides. If there’s nothing to eat, they leave or die.

Oh, hell no! I don't like spiders, even if they do serve a essential function, but I certainly will not let one crawl on me voluntarily. Thanks for the image, now it's off to bed where I will undoubtedly dream about spiders.
