Is there a 6.5 that's plug and play or some other solution that works to replace the 2 factory speakers? I've read alot into this and haven't seen a solid answer, seems it's easy with the base system but the premium introduces complexity.

About a year ago I noticed one of the speakers sounded kinda bad or blown compared to the other one. I talked to the guys at Crutchfield and they convinced me the 6.5 adapter kit to replace the 2 factory speakers would be a massive upgrade. So I got a pair of 6.5s, wiring adapters and the adapter kit They assured me it would work, did all the OHM and watt speak etc.

After cutting open my soundbar and installing the 6.5 it sounded so tiny, basically like there was nothing there. I called them back, they did some more research and got one of their "aces" who said oh you need this component setup instead and sent me JL Audio C1-650 that has the little component and the 6.5. Installed it and again sounds so tiny. They mostly refunded my money, but I'm still stuck without a solution that works. I got frustrated and gave up until now.

Boy do I wish I would have just replaced the factory speaker - hoping someone has the answers and has done this successfully!

I would go with the Select Increments JLJT-Pods + Alpine S-S65C. It’s pretty much plug and play without having to butcher up your soundbar.

I already have the SSV works pods which is basically the same outcome as the JLJT-Pods, and I've already butchered one side of the soundbar.

Did you actually install the Alpine S-S65C and have it work successfully? I'm skeptical now and really looking for that assurance that it works and at least sounds as good as the factory speakers.

Yes i did and works great. I wanted the 6.5 speakers to match the factory Alpine Subwoofer and this is a nice clean upgrade without having to cut up the internals of my soundbar…. I finished upgrading my sound system by installing the Terra Acoustics front speakers. This in combination with the SI Pods + Alpine S-S65C, knocks it out of the park IMHO..

It all Looks OEM which is a must have with every mod i make..

Went with the DS18 JLSBAR22LOADED. I had to connect and install the speakers myself, the sound bar is a direct replacement and the connection is plug and play, and I had to run the RGB wire to the battery and another wire to the 12v cigarette lighter (pink and yellow wire) - overall 3 hours of work and I am very impressed , it was a significant upgrade - I forgot, there were no screws for the tweeters, so you’ll have to find 6 small screw.

Interesting. Now I'm wondering if the JLJT-Pods will still work over and cover the hole I cut. Installed the SSV also look good and factory looking, but I like the idea of not cutting the other side.

How did the soundbar connect to factory wiring? Did you have the Alpine Premium?

There’s a direct plug and play for the speakers and I had an amp plug as well - but I didn’t use it - I don’t have the alpine amp- DS18 states - Included are plug and play options for your speakers that integrate into your factory wiring and amplifier or you can use an external amplifier for even more volume.

i used the Alpine S-S65C (vs the Kicker speakers) with the SI Pods because i have the factory Alpine Subwoofer and wanted it all Alpine. it was plug and play with no added wiring, cutting etc. The added Terra Acoustics front speakers just knocks it out of the park IMHO..

Replacing the front/top dash speakers is the first step in getting decent sound inside a Jeep. Most of the audio is coming from those speakers.

I have Willys 2Dr with the basic system and tried various speakers to get a fuller sound. The Terra Acoustics Dash speakers and Kicker HS10 made the biggest difference. The sub really filled everything out vs the sound bar and knee panel speakers.

I tried Kenwood Excelon in dash, Alpine R-s69.2 6x9 in the sound bar and they made a difference but were a little to bright for me. I ended up with TA's in the dash, Focal 6.5 ISU 165 woofers for the knee panels, JL 2-690TX 6x9's, Kicker HS10 Sub and an Alpine KTA 50W Amp. The local shop gave me a great deal and very happy after some trial and error.

That's the exact same Approach I wanted to go for as I, myself, have the premium Alpine system in my JLUR. Decent for a "Premium" System, but there's definitely much more room for improvement.

Agreed; and the Terra Acoustics front Component Kit is a great and straightforward start from there. Plus the Pricing is reasonable for being "Plug and Play." Looking forward to getting my hands on these soon!

hi, waiting to receive everything to upgrade with same S-S65C speakers, did you insert foam inside the pods?
