I was going to connect JScan to change setting for rear LED lights that I added. I popped off the trim panel, found the two ports, can reach them fairly easy, and depress the tabs….

And I pull super hard while depressing the tabs, and they won’t budge. I can pull on them so hard that the grey thing they plug into creaks and moves a few mm. Pliers wont budge them. I can pull the cords pretty hard, and that won’t budge them. Rocking in all directions, they do not move at all.

Any tricks? I think they are glued in. These seem impossible to pull out, but not as hard to reach as 20 threads and 10 YouTube videos seemed to suggest.

I now want to drink heavily, eat handfuls of Nicorette and/or crack, and reenact that scene from office space with the printer.

If you need to calm down I strongly advise against crack generally. I would make sure you have the zautomotive SGW extensions on hand first so you only have to go though this pain and aggravation once. It’s worth waiting until you have these.

Depress the tab while pushing as if you were pushing each connector back in. Then once the tab is fully depressed pull the connector out. If you wear latex gloves they will keep the blood inside the gloves rather than dripping it inside the Jeep. Anyone who says they did this quickly either got lucky, have ET fingers, or have done this numerous times.

They are not glued in.

Push the connectors in fully. You should feel a small mount of movement. Now release the tabs (do not pull until doing this). Now they should come out. They are a tight fit.

That’s not where I plug into the security bypass? Mine are under the dash perpendicular to the obd port. They were pretty easy to pull out once I got my hands on them. Do you want a picture of them ?
What Terrymo and Shane said. Do not even think about removing them without that extension harness. Once and done.

Get the bypass cables and you will have a better idea on how the cables unplug from looking at the bypass plugs which are the same.

I’m sure @Rhinebeck01 has some better pics.

In my first pic above, my hand is going under and behind the beam, and the tabs are in the back of the two plugs there. Those two are the same ones, it’s just that you can take the pic at infinite angles, so it gets confusing a little depending on how you shoot it. My view is almost from above.

I did surrender for the afternoon, but I’ll give it another brief go.

Thanks. I don’t have high hopes.

I can depress the back and pull. Nothing seems to move much. If I push it will “click” back in., almost like I microscopically moved it. The little tab seems easy to feel and depress.

Here’s a picture of where I disconnect and plug into for JScan. I removed the panel just below the steering wheel, and then placed the camera pointing in and to the left. There are two connectors next to each other

Yea not sure what they are going on about that certainly looks like the right 2 connectors. But youre right that picture angles can throw a bunch of stuff off.

I thought it was camera angle as well but I’ve been wrong at least once before
