If you're worried about remote intrusion because you bypassed your Security Gateway and live next to the Blofelds, disconnect the telematics.

I'm in the cybersecurity business, you'd be surprised how many trojan horses ride in under the guise of being a "security" component.
I think what you mean by this, by way of example....

and if you do I completely agree,

are things like the abundance of emails people get saying falsely that their security's been compromised, and but for a "small fee on their credit card" their issue will be resolved.....

There's an additional criterion you missed in this snide comment Foster, my having already expressed little worry about this issue. The metaphorical Blofelds would have to have it in for me, which they don't.

The villians of your Blofeld metaphor portray brilliant but maniacal people who realize the risks of unlawful behavior, choosing accordingly to save it for those they feel their adversaries.

But thanks for playing. Oh, and so why did I bring this up if it's also not a thing?

Because I don't know everything and can learn from others more knowledgeable than me.

If someone wants to steal or control a vehicle they are going to do it.
This is so true as sure as its only one side of that coin.

The other side speaks to why we do things like lock our doors. And that's because most thieves are opportunistic, turning down harder targets for easier ones.

It's that, and it's even scarier. Keep in mind, this article is from something that happened over ten years ago...

I was serious.

The point of the Security Gateway is to separate the telematics/radio from the vehicle control modules. When the gateway is bypassed, disconnecting the telematics/TBM essentially does the same thing.

Go Blofeld-proof yourself!

So you (said slowly hoping I don't miss anything)....

offered a solution to a problem, that nobody on this thread's voiced concern over, only detailing its specifics, (sorry: disconnect the telematics doesn't do it for most of us) in turn conveying the true genuineness and benevolence of your intent, only in a follow up post?

OK.
