I'm sure this has been brought up before, went back 10 pages and didn't see anything so what's the best/ worst products for the plastic windows for cleaning.

reason for asking is, I just recently tried acetone on a piece of plexiglass which destroyed the the plexiglass (it was a small test piece so no loss and not on the Jeep). so guessing acetone is out for cleaning. not that is was an option to begin with.

I'm assuming basic water and a microfiber is up there towards the top of the list.

also not trying to clean up anything crazy like tree sap, sicker residue... currently the worst is dog slime and nose prints.

suggestions?

I'll use regular car wash soap from the local quarter wash, but I don't let it sit long, and power wash with water afterwards. Following that, I take a clean, often new, microfiber towel and always wipe in the same direction from front to rear of the Jeep.

I have some light scratches, but I've found this to be the best way to prevent swirls and hazing in the windows.

You do have to be careful with soap and do not use chemicals like ammonia (windex or other glass cleaner), though, as anything harsh can dry out the vinyl and cause hazing or discoloration.

I was actually cleaning my Jeep for the first time with the soft top and had the same thought. I use an Adams microfiber sponge. I had my last top for 7 yrs. The windows held up pretty decent but the back was starting to get a little “foggy”.

I use soap and water with a soft cotton towel/rag. Then I use Aerospace 303 protectant once they're clean.

isn't this like sacrilege... Honda products on a Jeep.

all thanks for the replies good stuff here
Well...I use it on my Yamaha motorcycle too haha. If it makes you feel better, search for "Genuine Spray Polish" instead. it's the original formula before Honda changed it slightly. Some swear the old formula is better, I think they work about the same.

I wash the soft top windows with soap and water and then use Plexus or Sumner Labs 210 to polish out any small scratches. Deep scratches are what they are.

I just Sprayway and a rag, just like all the other windows. 5yo and maybe I've got some very light scratches but it's not impacting visibility and they are not fogging.

Bestop makes a product specifically for windows that I use. You just apply it, wait for it to haze and buff it off. Works great!

Mopar makes a product for this: https://www.amazon.com/WRANGLER-GLA..._2MwcVs7YY93p_tFX7QxiFBdMUGvpAgRoCZrUQAvD_BwE

And the manual says:

● Never use a dry cloth to remove dust. Instead, use a microfiber towel or soft cotton cloth moistened with cold or warm, clean water, and wipe across the window, not up and down. Mopar® Jeep® SoftGlass Window Cleaner or equivalent will safely clean all plastic windows without scratching. It removes fine scratches to improve visibility and provides UV protection to help prevent yellowing.

● When washing, never use hot water or anything stronger than a mild soap. Never use solvents such as alcohol or harsh cleaning agents.

● Always rinse thoroughly with cold water, then wipe with a soft and slightly moist, clean cloth.

● When removing frost, snow or ice, never use a scraper or de-icing chemicals. Use warm water only if you must clean the window quickly.

● Debris (sand, mud/dirt, dust, or salt) from off-road driving will have an impact on plastic retainer operation. Even normal on-road driving and vehicle washing will eventually impact window plastic retainer operation. To maintain ease of use of the window plastic retainers, each window plastic retainer should be cleaned and lubricated regularly.

Clean them with a mild soap solution and a small brush. Cleaning products are available through an authorized dealer.
