Okay, So only available on 3.6 etorque and 392? That changes things. My Jl being built sat in "Paint Stage" for 5 weeks and last week I was told I have a new VON, sounds like that order is cancelled and they're starting my build over. No idea what happened at the factory and nobody can find out. Not happy that 9 weeks in and I'm starting over but I was trying to make it a positive. With a new order I can get the extreme package. Granted, they won't start production until August but why worry about time at this point. My thinking was, just add $4,000 to what my under invoice price was going to be. I can do that, worth it. But..... If you're telling me , not available in the 2.0. That's $1,750 for the V6 etorque. Nothing against the 3.6. I have no preference between the 3.6 or 2.0. I was just going 2.0 because there's no upcharge for it. So which do I give up, leather or dual tops :)

I placed an order for a JLU Rubicon last week with the Xtreme package. Dealer said it is required, no argument here.

Wow, didn't know they weren't building vehicles with Xtreme package until August.

I have a tough decision to make and not sure what to do. I am considering talking to the dealer tomorrow. I was going to see if I give up my MSRP 392 order, already on the train, and order the same but with Gorilla Glass and the extreme recon. I would only do this if they agree to MSRP. They have been selling them at 15-20k over. The incentive for the dealer is they sell my order above MSRP plus another at 4K more with the Recon.

Pros for me.
I am not in a hurry, I actually don't need it until I retire before the end of 22. Would be fun to have sooner.
Better off road capable, more clearance.
I would have more down payment.
I wanted 35's and like the look of the factory rims and that they are wider.
More lift is all good but only if it is needed for tire clearance.
Gorilla Glass.

Cons
The 4.56 I think is extreme from 3.73 and think gas will be worse, may be better with 37s.
I don't rock crawl.
If I upgrade current order I have choice of rim and tire combo. Same with lift but probably spend more than 4K.
Lift is not a suspension upgrade, just a spacer and longer shocks.
I haven't done the math but seems 4.10s would have been a good compromise.
Of course 4K more in the hole.
Another long wait.
Risk of it not being built.
Risk of dealer not honoring MSRP but probably same as my present order.

Any thoughts appreciated.

If you’re not a rock crawler there’s zero reason for you to order it IMO. You can add gorilla glass later.
You can add 35’s on those stock wheels without issue ( ok maybe add some hub centric small spacers ).

Skip it.

I only added it because I do rock crawl and wanted the gears with warranty. Literally would not have added it otherwise though it sounds like I’m forced to irrespective.

I’d definitely keep the one that is on its way. Just slap some 35s on the existing wheels and be done - based on your planned use.

its not that great a deal on the 392 anyway, in comparison to what it gives a rubicon for the same price.

I only added to mine as in D status

What is different aside from wheels, tires and a lift? If it's just those 3 things I'd rather choose my own higher quality aftermarket parts than running oem stuff.

  • LT315/70R17C 113/110S Tires (TVC)
  • 110mph Vehicle Max Speed Calibration (JJ3)
  • Wheel Flare Extensions (NLA)
  • MOPAR Tire Relocation Kit (XFP)
  • 17x8.0 beadlock Capable Wheel (WFC)
  • MOPAR Jack Spacer (CXK)
  • 35" Tire Suspension (SDG)
  • MOPAR Hinge-Gate Reinforcement (XDB)
  • GVW Rating - 6100# (Z1M)
  • 4.56 Rear Axle Ratio (DMU)
In fairness, I don't really care about wheel flare extensions or jack spacer. Everything else I actually want.

Here's the difference of those items from a cost standpoint (for me) adding them after.

- $675 (hinge-gate reinforcement)
- $290 (spare relocation kit bracket)
- $2500 (gears done by reputable, dedicated driveline shop in PHX). Other shops do it for cheaper, but rather have a shop do it that does drive line all day, every day. I'd still do 4.56's, so no real gain here.
- $260 (wheel spacers to keep OEM wheels)
- $1000 (minimum delta to upgrade to 35" tires from OEM 33's after selling just the tires which won't fetch much without wheels).
- $219 (Tazer JL Lite to reprogram tire size)

So a total savings of about a grand vs buying after the fact, assuming I don't unlock my PCM and tune it to get the speed limiter raised, and forego the jack spacer and wheel flare extensions. I don't think I'd buy any of that, but that would obviously increase the cost and also void the warranty.

Ultimately if you're not a rock crawler, I don't think it's worth it as 3.73's will likely be just fine even with 35's for forest roads, highway, local roads, etc. For me, I want those gears as the t-case is not 4:1 and the wheels that come with it are wider, I like them, and thus don't even need spacers or to bring my own wheels entirely.

Great post, guarnibl - thanks!

Has anyone seen what the wheels are going to look like?
No reveals yet, unfortunately.

I'm expecting them to be the same wheel, just a half inch wider. Which to me, sounds perfect!

Agreed - that's also what I'm hoping for. If they go with something different and I don't like them that changes the value prop on my math a bit. I'm in Chicago -- I might have to make it to the auto show to scope it out...

Agreed.

I figure worst case I powder coat them all black and the ring hydro blue to match the Jeep.

I for sure would have waited to add this if it were going to be available on a 2 door. But it's not so I went ahead and ordered a new Rubi 2 door. Plus I like the 2.0T better and I don't think you can get the extreme with that engine.

I'll just build my own.
