I need lessons - but the only one I know here with a drone has an antique and he's 80 and can't stand or walk enough these days to handle one. He said his wouldn't hover in place. You always had to keep watch and control of it. He asked if mine could hover - I pushed the take-off button and showed him how it would launch straight up and hold there until I did something - then I sent it higher and out above the yard and stopped, showing him it would basically stay there (depending on wind and other fun stuff). He said his could never do that. Must have been a very early one.

I had a Phantom battery discharge on me over the water. The lights flashed a couple of times and it dropped like a rock right into a bay…. a saltwater bay. Lol
Drone insurance?

Definitely not the best feeling one could have. Ironically for me one of my outside house camera's caught every bit of it. Watching it go up and seconds later seeing the shadow coming back in reverse makes me want to yell every time I watch it. Yes I still watch it from time to time.

I'm using a DJI Mavic 3 Pro. Definitely more than I need, but I can put it in the air, circle the Jeep on the screen, and it does the rest. It will record, and have obstacle avoidance while I drive. All I have to do is change the angle from front, back or either side with a single push of a button.

The early ones, at least the early Phantoms didn’t have GPS and wouldn’t hover like they do now.
Flying those things was altogether different then it is now.

I come home tonight and I should have my 3rd ā€˜generation’ drone on my doorstep waiting for me. Luckily I live where no one steals your packages. I am so looking forward to seeing how the tech has changed in the four years since my second one.

My Mavic 2 Pro is awesome video wise.

Oh shit I just checked Amazon and the package was delivered before I got home. Wife surely found the delivery and now I have some ā€˜splaining’ to do. Especially now that Amazon doesn’t necessarily box up some stuff so it is clear what is in the box!
