The power of the Jeep Wrangler allure must be the envy of all vehicle brands. Stellantis clearly must know this and cherish the phenomenon. When it came time to add a vehicle at our home in 2023 I didn't want anything besides a JLU Wrangler. Why? I don't exactly know. i told my wife "There's just something about it." After two years I still love it and after parking somewhere always turn around and look at it and smile. It's so weird. And getting friendly waves all the time adds even more enjoyability. Can you think of any other vehicle brand that has this effect on owners? Last year's Super Bowl ad with Harrison Ford did a great job of reinforcing the appeal. Just felt like commenting...

Almost every day before closing my garage door I look back at my Jeeps and just feel like a lucky guy! I had a 97 TJ and loved it every day I drove it for 7 years. When I later bought my 2021 Jeep, I knew a Wrangler was the only vehicle I wanted, other than a new Corvette. I don't think the Corvette is going to happen because neither of my Jeeps is going to park outside!!

Some people have serious loyalty as well. I love Wranglers but only because I take them offroad. If I did not, I'd have a GX 550 or something.

Hmmmm. No mention of oil though.

Why’d he get banned? I mean, apart from all of the oil threads

I was watching Colorado Mall Crawler yesterday on youtube. He was coming down a hill and I thought to myself, "Damn that's a beautiful jeep!" It didn't hurt that his is Hellyella. Yeah... coolest vehicle ever! just my 2 cents.

From a 1979 C&D piece by Dave E. Davis:

'A potential 4x4 buyer must perform a little self-analysis. If you are amused by mechanical devices of all kinds, particularly cars; if you are willing to accept the thesis that personal transportation need not be some safe extension of the suburban tract house, nor some kind of crushed-velour parlor-on-wheels; and if you are comfortable with the knowledge that machines, even the ones that are supposed to be our servants, can and will be cranky and temperamental; then you can legitimately consider yourself a candidate for Jeep ownership.
The Jeep has style, and mere fashion is for those lesser machines that don't...a vehicle that suffers in comparison to most, in practical terms, yet excels them all in panache.'

What was true then, still rings true today. After five years I still smile every morning when I walk into my garage.

I know Subaru owners can also be quite territorial, though I have no idea why -- they're just station wagons. 🤷‍♀️

I have owned several corvettes. I traded my last one for my 2022 Willys 2 door. Living in MN I parked them at least five months over the winter. We now can take our dogs with us. Haul more gear and go off the pavement. Insurance, fuel, tires and parts are cheaper for the Jeep. With a Sunrider it is almost a convertible. I've always wanted a Jeep. My Wrangler makes me smile and I so far I have no regrets.

They do tick many boxes. They are good for overlanding on mild trails. The Wilderness trim level is pretty capable for a car.

I like mine for the versatility. I can pack a lot of stuff in it. It's a good all around daily driver and road trip vehicle. The AWD really is good for driving in the snow. I certainly prefer it over many other vehicles. But it's no Jeep.

I’ve always been a truck-guy. But I’ve also always had the constant desire for a Jeep for some reason. This past year with the little-one not being so little anymore, and the motorcycle accumulating more dust than miles, something fun but a little more family-friendly sounded enticing. A 1979 short-box K10 with a small-block 400 and a manual transmission would have been my first pick. But I figured by the time I got it linked on 1-tons and re-geared to push the 40” Interco TSL’s - Not adding in the cost of a divorce along the way - The Wrangler was definitely the lesser evil of the two paths… And I still got my solid-axle 4x4 with a stick-shift 😉
