I'm not sure if you already have a JL or not, but the safety groups suck.

I have test driven Jeeps with them and did not want them on my JL (the nanny crap that it already comes with is enough of a pain in the ass; you can't have the door open while the vehicle is in gear, for example... it auto parks. Absolute pain in the ass over the minimal nanny stuff in my old JK). I have a 392 on order, and you are forced to have all of it with the 392, but if I could have ordered it without the safety crap, I absolutely would have.

Just throwing this out there because it may not be too late to change your order and potentially receive the Jeep faster.

What about the safety groups sucks? I'm pretty sure what you've described isn't part of either package.

I ordered 2DR Rubicon 10/7, spoke to the dealer and have an ETA 11/12. Was originally told when ordering should be delivered in January. Not sure how the production is scheduled.

What about the safety groups sucks?

The short answer? All of it.

The longer answer? All of it. I have driven and owned many vehicles with advanced safety features (some with more advanced safety features than the Wrangler comes with when optioned with the safety groups), and they all have issues, and they all have false positives, especially during winter driving when snow is flying and sensors get covered. Some of the false positives are enough to scare the living shit out of you and distract you for no reason. My 2017 Denali liked to randomly and violently vibrate the seats while at highway speeds making you think a collision was imminent, when in fact, a sensor was out of wack because it was covered in snow.

I don't need a computerized Jeep Nanny beeping at me when I'm backing up (or a display on the dash which I'm not looking at because I'm using my mirrors, turning my head to see out the back, and/or using my rearview camera). I definitely don't need it attempting to brake for me when it feels so triggered as to do so. It also complicates rear bumper installs. Further, the rear camera on the JL is fantastic, and if you run over or into something with that camera at your disposal, you probably shouldn't have been behind the wheel in the first place.

I don't need Full-Speed Forward-Collision Warning Plus, or Advanced Brake-Assist trying to brake for me, because I'm a driver that pays attention to my surroundings and the road around me. Aside from driving Jeeps, I ride motorcycles, therefore I am used to being on the road with the assumption that I must pay attention to the road and other drivers around me because everything on the road is trying to kill me at any given time. More people should learn to ride motorcycles, safely, because we'd have better car drivers on the road for it.

I don't need Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop or Enhanced Adaptive Cruise Control because I rarely use cruise control to begin with (literally the only time I use it is when I need to move my right foot around on long drives, and we are talking under a minute of activation total). I also think cruise control, in general, is one of those "creature comfort" features that led to the decline of driving skill and driver awareness. It disconnects a driver from driving inputs to the vehicle.

I don't need Blind-Spot and Cross-Path Detection because, as stated above, I pay attention to my surroundings when driving. Whenever possible, I always back into parking spaces, giving me the ability to clearly see the area that I am proceeding out of the parking spot and into.

And, they all add more electronics doodads in the Jeep to go wrong, and we all know that electronics is an area in which Jeep has really always excelled, right? #sarcasm

My current JL with no safety groups is the perfect blend of creature comforts for me in a Jeep, and I need nothing more than a V8 under the hood. I just wish I could get that V8 to be wrapped in Hella Yella paint, and without the safety groups.

A note from my sales rep about the current market. I told him about being offered only MSRP by two and being ignored by two others - like what is going on - I've never seen dealers act like this. He said he was in the market to buy a Toyota. He said he went to 9 dealerships and every one tried to screw him over some way or another, and he is in the business, and had to end up buying a car from Carvana. I asked him if they are selling so many cars they don't need the business. He said they are actually selling fewer so pressure is on margins, so for some reason they would rather turn down business than sell at a discount (literally 0 effort to negotiate from 4 dealers), and that there is a lot of turnover in the industry now - said it is just getting quite nasty out there. Strange times indeed. As always - YMMV.

Ordered mine in August and it was delivered Mid October. I got lucky, considering some of these extreme wait times people have. I ordered the Rubicon with the LED, Safety Assist, Trail Cam, Cold Weather Group, Trailer Hitch and Leather.

I think the safety groups are for more idiot drivers, that all does sound like a pain. I think the reason I'd like something is to warn me is for other drivers careening into me.

Yeah, I had my last JLUR totaled by a girl that didn't have those safety features. Five families had their lives fucked up (including hers). I wonder if she thought that safety groups are for idiot drivers too.

I'd rather have the safety groups and not need them, then need them some day and not have them. And lol at paying $50k+ for a car that doesn't have standard safety features that come standard on vehicles half the price. Realistically how much is $2k more added to MSRP really adding to the payment that could be offset by insurance companies?
