I mounted my 10k x2o with the Maximus plate. Everything lined right up no issues.

I think I found the perfect thread. I am going to be installing a X20 very soon. I am not keen on live power always being "on the bumper" I was hoping to use an Aux switch, replacing / adding inline with the switch on the body of the winch, but I can't find clear instructions on how to do that.

So then I have been looking at "main line" power, would something like this work: https://www.amazon.com/400-AMP-Circuit-Breaker-Waterproof-Automotive/dp/B07KXFPF41

My reading seems to indicate max power is 380amps, but its difficult to find good specs on the X20.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Couple other side questions. I have the Rubicon steel bumper, and I ordered the Maximus-3 winch plate (and d-ring mounts too).
1. Do you replace the front plastic piece on the bumper with a new cover (with fairlead plate attached), or do you just take a dremel to the plastic plate to cut a slot for the new winch line?

2. Anyone add the Maximus-3 D-ring mounts? Are there good instructions included as to wear to cut the bumper? Is a cuff-off tool up to the task?

3. I am adding a Warn Epic Sidewinder (like Factor 55 gear), how does one cut off the hook? Same cutoff tool?

Thanks!

Are you sure you got the JL version of the plate? It looks like the JK versions had the D-ring mounting points but I haven't seen where the JL version has that feature.[/QUOTE

You scared me at first! I had to back and look again (before install)... It is for the JL. I installed it this weekend with no issues. The plate lined right up and the install was pretty easy. The hardest part was routing the cables in my opinion. It helped DRAMATICALLY that I took the airbox out and could then pass everything through.

1- I purchased the front plate from Maximus 3 website in red. It was in a combo with the mounting plate for about $275. It bolts up to the factory bumper and is a mounting point for the fairlead also.

2- you don't need to cut anything. Just bolts and screws.

3 - no idea :)

I see that, not sure how I missed that chunk of metal in all my time spent on the site shopping:
https://maximus-3.com/home/jl-winch-mount-kit

The page says cutting is required to the bumper: https://maximus-3.com/jl-bumper-accessories-/jl-d-ring-loops#/ It should arrive in the mail today, and I will get back to you all once I have instructions in hand.

Thanks for the quick reply.

You are correct on the cutting. My apologies, I meant no cutting for the winch and mounting plate install.

Here is the one I bought in red: https://maximus-3.com/jl-bumper-acc...#/jl_winch_mount_and_hook_anchor-red_jl1012wr.

Well I got all the parts, just need to find the time now to install a the Winch. One thing that bothers me, I ordered the D-ring attachments from Maximus-3 for the Maximus-3 Winch Plate. Neither my shackle pin or the "Warn epic sidewinder" pin will fit through it. Its just too small. I will assume its the beautiful finish and power coating on it, and I hope I can just drill it out with a 7/8" drill bit.

Oh grabbed some quick pictures (sorry they are not in the garage. :) ).

This is just the shackle pin, its oh so close.

Looks like we went heavy on the coats of Zinc Primer Powder and Red Gloss Powder. Should be able to clean out the hole. Thanks for the feedback.

Welp, I received the Maximus-3 plate about 2 weeks ago & picked up my Rubicon last week. Was on the fence about keeping my old XRC-8 winch, but the dude that picked up my old XJ axles bought the winch as well so now i'm going to order the X2O. I'd love a Warn Zeon but can't justify the cost. (Perhaps in the future if I find I get heavy use out of my winch) I am going to jump on the Warn Power Interrupt Kit as mentioned in an above post. Things short out. The plugs aren't keyed either. Tho it's unlikely, anybody with the controller could plug in to your winch & do whatever if you don't have a power disruption. I'd rather not have a direct line to the battery if I can help it. I have the factory tow package, so I have the AUX switches available.

Seems people are unhappy with the way the control box mounts to the winch. Has anybody managed to relocate the control box to under the hood? Any reason not to relocate it?

It’s on sale right now at Northridge and the forum discount code works, making final cost $433.49 with free shipping (the 10K with synthetic line).

The control box is a pain to mount if you do it after mounting the winch on the Jeep, but easier to do if you mount it before putting the winch on the Jeep. No reason you couldn’t relocate it wherever you want but that might be more of a pain than mounting it on the winch.

I’m seeing $509 on their website? I didn’t think to check there. I looked @ Quadratec & 4WP. Amazon had it for 495 so I bought it last night. (One store front on amazon has it for 475 free shipping, but I saw too many missing/wrong item & customer service issues on BBB website)

Oh heck yeah! I found the Northridge4x4.com forum discount code. jlwranglerforums. Also tried return19 , got the same discount. Thanks for the heads up! The delivery date is going to be pushed back, but I can't complain over the savings. Gives me time to knock out a few other projects around the house. Maybe I'll pre-wire the Warn kit while I'm waiting lol.

Brad41, @Maximus-3 , or anyone else. I finally have the time to install the X20 with the Maximus-3 plate this upcoming weekend. Its nerve racking have the parts, but not a free day to get it all done. I have been going through all the instructions (doing a couple other installs this weekend too) and I have 1 question.

What about the Skid plate? When you add the Maximus-3 plate, you add a couple spacers in front of the frame. Will the push out of the bumper give you any troubles reattaching the skid plate? Not sure if there is "play" in the skid plate, or will I need to drill out the holes a bit larger?

Just making sure I am good to go here. Thanks for the help.
