Picked up my base sport November 10. I called every independent tire shop in my area to see if they’d give any credit towards new tires for taking my brand new all seasons the Jeep came with. It was a hard pass from everyone. Last one recommended trying a Goodyear service center so I did and they agreed to do a swap to 285/70r17 duratracs for $30 per tire. Had them installed tonight, but they said the spare doesn’t fit without a spacer. They can’t get enough threads for the lug nuts. I got called into work so I left the spare there and they said to stop up tomorrow with a spacer and they’ll mount it. Anyone else have issues with that size mounting on the spare carrier? I was a bit surprised.

Not sure but when I had my 315’s put on Chris at Tankcustoms advised I needed a spare tire relocator bracket as well to get the spare to fit, i know it raises the tire but dont think it does much more than raise the spare so I’m not sure why the studs for the spare won’t work with the new tire

Just doesn’t make sense. He didn’t say anything about a bumper clearance which a 33 inch tire I wouldn’t think would have an issue which would call for a relocation bracket that moves it up. He kept saying I needed a wheel spacer but I don’t see where that’s going to extend the threads for him. How are rubicons/others with 285/70 tires getting their lug nuts threaded on the spare carrier?

If I understand correctly, The issue is the offset of the wheel. With the wider tire the spare is against the tailgate before a lugnut can be started to hold it on. If forced you could damage the tailgate or tire. I suspect they will be adding a threaded spacer and not a slip-on

You need a spare tire relocation bracket. Moves it out and up.

I put 305/70r17 on. Stock wheel, no spacer.
