Anyone know of a place in the LA area that will rebuild your shocks while you wait? I can't remove my shocks to take them somewhere because I only have the Jeep.

Just curious if I can drive to a shop, they would remove the shocks, re-build and then re-install.

I doubt it. I don't believe any shop would ever put any customer ahead of other customers that have been waiting in line before you. If a shop has no customers or other work waiting is probably a shop that you don't want to do business with.

Also, shops don't like to have a rack tied up with a vehicle for very long while waiting for either parts or something to get done. It takes time to R & R, rebuild and dyno the shocks.

It may be best to buy a set of cheapo shocks to use while your shocks are getting rebuilt to so you don't have to wait around.

@SadRobot - As someone mentioned, it will be much better to get some temporary shocks and either ship yours to someone or drop them off somewhere.

*Paragraph deleted as it was inaccurate.*

Most shops that offer this service will have a free loaner set of shocks to throw on while you wait for service. If you can find a set to put on, you're welcome to ship yours to me and I'll do my best to get them apart and serviced. Just know, that no matter who you drop them off with, things can go downhill quick with these.

These shocks have a history of being a giant PIA to disassemble and rebuild. Fox will also not help you much once you run into a problem. Like the shaft itself being cracked and then the shafts not being able to be ordered. Confucious' story will be evidence for that. If they're out of warranty, then you may get stuck with buying new shocks.

Thanks. I decided to just order new shocks. They will be here Tuesday and I'll install them. I don't feel like messing around with re-building the old ones at the moment.

Right on. I think you saved yourself a lot of heartache going that route.

I’m in the same boat. Coming up on 50k miles on my Falcon shocks and I’m starting to get that top heavy feeling lately. My plan was to buy 5100s since they’re dirt cheap and have the Falcons sent off for a rebuild. Hardest part for me is finding a local company that I trust.

When you said "downhill quicky" did you mean the Fox 2.0s in general? Or just a re-build.
I mean...once they get them open, you could be looking at a shock that needs a part that Fox won't give you. You'll drop off 4 shocks and 2 of them could be rebuilt and the other two will need something. It's a downward spiral after that. It's either buy new and replace them or go into the rebuild process with your fingers crossed that the shop can even get them apart with damaging them. After they try and fail, then you're stuck buying new ones anyway on top of the bill they'll give you for trying.

It's not a drop off and pick up a week later process some times. I'm just more or less giving the warning that this could happen because I've seen it happen. The latest horror story was with a set of Fox 2.0 Res that @conFUcius had on his rig. Super nice shocks that ended with him buying a new set after dropping his off for a rebuild.

The Falcon's have to go back to the factory to be rebuilt.

Of course they do 🤦‍♂️
Guess I’ll be riding on Bilstein shocks from now on.
I will say that their assembly line for the shocks is quite impressive. I went and toured their facility when I went through Utah a few years back. Pretty nice setup.

It’s so impressive that I had a leaking rear shock right out of the box 😂
