Anyone have any updates on their service shifter issues? Mine was out of the shop for 9 days before the service shifter came back after they determined that the sway bar disconnect was the issue.
I am not the original poster, but I do have the same/similar issue.
I have an active case with Jeep Cares, and although the situation has not been ideal, both Jeep Cares and my dealership have been helpful and continue to be attentive.
My Jeep has been in the shop for 25 days. The dealer technicians have pages of error codes, and about 50-ish pages of diagnostics they have attempted with Jeep Engineering. They have put about 1200 miles on my Jeep during its stay at the dealership, and as it stands, it cannot go 100 miles without throwing codes or shutting down.
Here is a rough timeline of events and facts.
- I drive a lot, 100 Miles a day (to/from work).
- JLUR Jeep Build Date October 2018, Engine is the 2.0L.
- Purchased Jeep 01/21/2019
- 1000-3000: Miles, no real problems only steering issues at highway speeds. Self-adjusted tire PSI to 36 from 45, which made it manageable.
- 3000 Miles: reported loose/wondering and dead spot in steering, requested that all steering components be checked. No issues were found.
- 3000-6000 Miles: minor electrical problems, backup camera would stop working or get stuck on, or would randomly move through the menus on its own. Passenger side seat started creaking/popping with someone in it (I temporally fixed this with some grease). Steering is getting worse at highway speeds.
- 6000 Miles: Had an oil change performed and reported loose/wondering and dead spot in steering. Oil was changed, and the stabilizer was replaced with the 2nd revision. This greatly improved the dead sport and wondering. I also test drove another 2018 JLUR that had zero issues with the steering.
- 7000-9500 Miles: discovered rust bubbling on the door hinges. The radio and backup camera continue to be flaky, and I still have not fixed the passenger seat. I figured I'd just lump all these issues into my next visit since they were relatively minor.
- 9500-10000 Miles: No new issues
- 7/10/2019 - 10000 Miles: Left home for work, made a quick stop to drop my dog off at daycare, came back to the Jeep and it would not start or go into accessory mode.
- Checked the fuse box and found about half the fuses not seated correctly. Push all fuses back down, still wonât start. Pulled the Stop/Start and Starter fuses, electrical systems came back on and I was able to go into accessory mode. Reseated Stop/Start and Starter fuses and the Jeep started right up when placed into run mode.
- Drove to work 50-miles away, entered the parking garage and every time I hit a speed bump, the service shifter indicator would come on.
- Parked the Jeep and figured it wouldnât start again. Called my dealer to make an appointment (They cannot get me in until the following week). Came out of work and the Jeep started right up and drove home with no drama.
- 7/11/2019 - The Next day, I drove to my coworkerâs house to carpool. No drama on the way to my coworkerâs house. Placed the Jeep in park and idled in the driveway while waiting. Coworker gets in, I place the Jeep in reverse and then it malfunctioned just like in the video. It did this in both drive and reverse and after multiple restarts. The Jeep gets towed to the dealer.
- 7/12/2019 â Dealer pulls about 3 pages worth of codes, they immediately start a star case. Jeep Engineering requests that all codes be reset, and that they drive it until the codes pop again. This took about 3 daysâ and about 300 miles worth of testing, but the situation did resurface.
- 7/12/2019 â 8/2/2019 Details from this point forward are not well known since they still have my Jeep. I do know that faulty connectors were found in the front passenger wheel well, as well as a bad ground that was covered in glue. Likely other items were replaced/checked since they have about 50 pages, 20+ hoursâ, and 1200 miles worth of troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- 8/2/2019 â I requested that Jeep Cares escalates my case since we are both losing money at this point and I miss my Jeep.
1. Lemon law will be pursued since my Jeep has been in the shop for nearly 30 days (currently 25 as of 8/4/2019) with no end in sight. Also, this is the 3rd visit for steering related issues. The safety and reliability of this 2018 Jeep are seriously compromised, and I refuse to take it back.
2. Jeep makes it right. Jeep needs to take this unit back to the factory and tear it down, so others do not go through this. I need to be compensated for my vehicle and time.
