Thanks. I brought it in for an oil change at the dealer with the CEL on but they didn’t check the code just did an emissions recall and flashed it so the code was gone. Not so happy about that, after they said they’d run diagnostics on it. At 31k miles now, I have to wait for it to come on again, hopefully before 36k.

Not sure if this will help the others since a lot of things can cause the "Service Electronic Throttle" error to come on. In my case, I have a 2019 2.0T BSG JLUR. My symptoms were similar to @JLTony where right after I started the Jeep, it would sputter, throw the error and stall. After that, I would see all kinds of strange errors like traction, etc. and the Jeep would have a very high pitched and loud sound (an electrical noise) coming from under the hood. The only way to stop the sound and for the Jeep to start again was to disconnect the battery.

After I took it to the dealer, they found a vacuum leak on the connector that plugs into the brake booster/master cylinder and wanted to charge over $600 to fix it. I instead bought the part for $60 and took 5 minutes to put it in. It's been several months and thankfully, the problem has not returned.

One important symptom for me that made the diagnosis make sense was I had a hard brake pedal if the Jeep sat more than 1 or 2 days. So air was definitely getting into the lines and was causing the engine to surge and then shut itself down. If you have something similar, your vacuum lines and connectors maybe worth a look.

Thanks, mine is only electrical. It runs fine until I'm on a trip then the check engine light comes on for Electronic Stability Control, Automatic Cruise Control, or Electronic Throttle Control and I sometimes have to pull over and turn it off and back on again.

Resureecting this thread because I'm having similar issues. Getting "service electronic throttle body" warning light and vehicle just cuts off power, stutters, stalls.

If I start the Jeep and drive for any amount of time straight through I don't have any problem. It could be 20miles or 200 miles it doesn't matter. But If I drive for a while and stop and shut the Jeep off, (for something like a quick errand) then go to restart it, the "service electronic throttle body" light comes on and the Jeep runs like crap, stalls etc. If the stop I'm making takes a longer time (like driving to a restraunt and staying for an hour or so) it seems like either the Jeep cools off, or something resets itself and the Jeep will start and run fine. It's the short stops that make this happen.

It seems like the end game (from what I've read on these forums) is replace the throttle body.

Anyone have any advice or DIY on replacing throttle body? I don't have any warranty as far as I'm aware because I bought Jeep from rental car company auction.

Edited to say I have a 2020 2.0t Wrangler with only 10k miles on it. Very frustrating. Seems like this should be a recall for sure
Thank you for posting. Did you find a resolution? Having the same issues with my 2018 Wrangler JL 2.0

I just got this light on yesterday, after taking it out of the dealer for something else.
Ive the 2.0 with BSG and I’m running the jb4 tuning piggyback, i think the trigger of the light was that i drove it without the obd2 sensor unplugged. The jeep went in a limb limiting my speed to 20mph. I was lucky to be on my driveway when it turned on.

I tried clearing the the error with my tazer, which was reading p00eb and p012d, it didn’t wanted to get rid of yhe p012d. I just reached the 60k miles on the same day so I’m out of warranty so taking it to the dealer is not an option.

this worked for me:

unplugged the jb4 piggyback, unplugged the battery, plug back the battery and unplugged all the ECM and PCM fuses (is like 5), plug them back. Push all fuses down. Turned the engine back on and the message was gone, i cleared the CEL with the Tazer and everything is back to normal.

Im planning on connecting back the jb4 later just to check if that was the issue.

also take a look at this for those under warranty

My 2022 Rubicon 392 started sputtering and showing the Service Electronic Throttle Control and one other warning. Jeep wouldn't start back at all. Had to be towed to Team One CDJR in Gadsden. It has 7,000 miles on it. Not super thrilled about this especially once I see there are so many other people reporting this same issue on various jeeps. I tried to make sure all fuses were seated and didn't notice any that were not.

@Engmoreau was it the JB4? I have a banks pedal monster with an iDash and wondering if it’s that.

2021 JLUR Diesel. The service electronic throttle control light came on last night. Not happy about it since I just spent $1,000 last month on glow plugs.
Thinking about going back to a truck…
