Even if you paid MSRP you’re coming out ahead on 58k offers, if you want to sell it I’d jump all over those while you can.
I agree with this. If you're serious about getting out of the 4XE, you can basically call it a win with this offer (assuming you have $7,500 in tax liability). The housing market has already started to soften, I can't imagine these crazy vehicle prices are too far behind.

I use the word "forced" because the new car market had increased prices as well. An example I see around me is: MSRP $50k. Sale price $53k.

Not that I'm forced to make money, but I am forced not to lose additional money. Since I will need to replace the vehicle I view it differently than of I was just pocketing cash. Different perspectives I suppose.
Why not trade it in and use the additional tax credit for the traded difference and save yourself money on the purchase of a different car. I would say even if you sell it close to MSRP you are losing quite a bit as the taxes were most likely a few thousand just on the purchase of the Jeep. Or maybe work hard to pay it off and have your child get a job to pay for their own car like I had to do when I was younger.

Well the first thing that comes to mind is that the buyer won't qualify for the tax credit. It would be cheaper for them to buy new from a dealer. Especially if you're trying to sell a car that is technically used for near MSRP. I ordered mine for over 3% below invoice brand new.

Have you looked into Carvanna or Vroom? They have been giving pretty crazy offers lately.
This right here. Yes you are too high and quite a bit too high. No one will buy a used vehicle for more than they can buy new.

I really like the 4xe. It works well for my daily work commute which is about 6 miles round trip.

I can afford the monthly payment, but just looking at options down the road. I have an almost 13 year old who will be needing a vehicle in about 3 years. Just trying to plan ahead and have something paid off in 3 years to add that additional upcoming expense.

No complaints with the 4xe, outside of wanting more electric range.
I’m really interested in what you are going to replace it with that will let you pay it off in three years while also making up all the taxes and fees you paid for the 4xe 10 weeks ago.

Also interested in how this new three year plan has changed your plans from 10 weeks ago when you bought it. You are now probably in for $10-15k in taxes, fees and depreciation. Hard to see selling being a viable financial decision.

None of my business, but you posted this unusual scenario, so I’m asking.

Buying it from you...a used 4XE is saving a ton of money in tax! Keep your price!

I don't know what I'd replace it with quite yet. Possibly a Colorado or Canyon. Even if I bought one for $40k I would use the tax credit money to put down and pay the rest off over 36 months. I don't have a ton of taxes tied up into the 4xe as I traded in a Silverado that covered most of the tax.

I realize that cars depreciate. I also realize that this a unique time with used car prices going up, inventory being down, the tax credit and the oncoming of online vendors paying more for vehicles. There is also no real standard for the price of a used 4xe since it's so new. Doing my research before listing my price put me right in the middle of what I found the few used ones going for. On one popular website mine is the only 4xe listed.

Popular car pricing websites haven't even updated to show trade in pricing.

My possible new 3 year plan has only come to be a possibility because of all the unique items I listed above.

As far as depreciation goes there really isn't a much right now. As you know Wranglers hold value well and I already have a $58k offer from a dealer.

Normally I'd agree with you, but I see so many people saying they traded in their 3 year old Wrangler and got what they paid for it 3 years ago. Unless everyone is inflating their numbers...

They are getting quicker pumping these out and the chip shortage isnt impacting 4xe’s specifically as one of Stelantis’s bigger profit margin vehicle.
I just read that Gladiator production has been halted due to the chip shortage. With the similarities between those and a Wrangler, I feel like it's coming our way too.

I make it a point to assume the best and never be confrontational on this forum. I started out in this thread wanting to be helpful. But it seems like the OP wants to sell the Jeep after a couple of months and claim the $7500 credit for themselves even though they know full well they technically won’t qualify for it (minimum 1 year ownership).

Ok if you made a mistake buying the 4xe and want to get out, at least give the new buyer a $7500 discount to effectively pass the credit along to the person who will be the owner for most of the Jeep’s initial years of service. At least that is honoring the spirit and purpose of the credit.

But pocketing the $7500 because you know you most likely won’t get audited? That’s intentionally ripping of every tax paying American. I think it best if I no longer participate in this particular thread.

Our dealership is selling them and other new for MSRP. Why would someone pay you $2,000+ for a used vehicle? Price it about $2,000 below what it stickered for and you might get some interest.
And the loss of the $7,500 tax credit too. Dude's overpriced by about $10K but he can ask whatever he wants for it.

I'm assuming that you have to provide some proof of your purchase that uniquely identifies your vehicle in order to claim the ev credit. If I was running the program you damn well better be sure that I'm cross checking the Vin on your tax return against one of the national registration dbs. It's a simple query to run, and a relatively cheap, quick, and easy way to flag people manipulating and cheating the system. You are absolutely entitled to do what you want, but if you sell it, I would certainly talk to a tax specialist before trying to claim the credit.

Dude, no body pays MSRP, much less above, unless they're a chump. No chumps here because there is a ton of information on this board about paying 3-8% below invoice depending if you want to travel. Yes, I said invoice.
