Jeep specifically stated that the software updates killed the battery and they had to replace it.
What is your reasoning for saying that this is not actually what happened?
I got my Jeep back this morning and it seems to be functioning properly after the first 10 miles. I'm going to give it a longer test this weekend.
One interesting thing that I noticed is that it showed 30 miles of electric range available at 99% charge. For the whole year I've had it, 24...
I just got an update today that my replacement battery from this issue is arriving at the dealership on Tuesday and they think it will be ready to drive on Thursday.
The guy said the reason it takes a long time is that the battery costs $14k, so it needs a lot of corporate approvals.
I’m happy...
The 4xe designation was pretty integral to my concern. I never had any concern taking my prior Jeeps to JiffyLube, but because this one is a 4xe, I thought maybe there was some risk.
Also, your signature says "2019 JLU Sport S Mojito!". Why doesn't it just say "my Jeep"?
I would say that it is good to hear that I'm not the only one with this issue, but that seems pretty rude since this situation sucks.
My dealer said they'd never had this issue before, and that they have run these updates on lots of 4xe's. They even said that they successfully ran one on...
You know what is more expensive than an engine? The battery that was bricked by the software updates. And that has nothing to do with how long I went between oil changes.
while hindsight says this is the best way to go, I was putting the “experts” in charge. I’m not an expert. I do now wish I had done that, but there was no logical reason for me to do it without the benefit of knowing what would end up happening.
So, after 12,000 issue-free miles, the oil life alert came on recently. I have a long trip coming up later this month, so I thought I should take it in to the dealer, not wanting to risk a JiffyLube type place doing something weird to my 4xe.
When I showed up yesterday morning, they said they...
Perhaps you should talk to the engineers who designed this Jeep PHEV to run as much as possible with the engine off. That is exactly what it does in Hybrid mode, which is the default mode the vehicle always starts in.
Curious what you find to be untrue about the statement. In a discussion about gas mileage in various driving modes, isn't it true that driving on all electric will use less gas than any other mode?
I remote start mine while making coffee in the morning so it can warm up or cool down the interior before going to work. Sometimes it runs for 5-10 minutes. No issues so far.
Does it come on automatically when you open the charging door? The description makes it sound like you have to switch it on manually, which seems like it just shifts the darkness problem to not being able to see the switch.
Most people tend to assume that their variables in the cost equation are the same as everyone, but they aren’t.
My first 6 months of ownership I lived in a place I couldn’t charge, but I found a parking garage near work with a free charger. All I had to do was walk a couple extra blocks and...
