So I went out on a group event yesterday with a big group and we hit some decent stuff. All in all around 5-6 hours of wheeling across rocks, and clay mud goop. I had never used the Selec-Trac before and man let me tell you I am in love. No more surge bump throttle, no more sore foot and leg :) I just would bump the speed up and down as the jeep in front sped up and slowed and crawling up and down stuff it just worked like cruise control for the trails. My lowly Sport with LSD went places several of the rubicons got stuck fairly easy. Needless to say I am using it from now on.

Looking at my post I just realized I said selec-trac, its selec-speed (jeep has too many selec-XXX names). The little button circled below...

It is amazing. It's not just working the throttle, it's actively working the brakes to shift power to the wheels with the most traction.

I have a Mojave Gladiator with a rear locker. I got stuck going up a hill. No real worries, I could always back down it and hit it faster, but I decided to experiment.

I put it in "duck mode" (the button looks like a duck) and amid all kinds of clicking and buzzing from the ABS running the brakes, I crawled right up.

I'm kind of a luddite and don't want to use tech like this to replace skill, but it definitely has its place. I had to put the front wheels right on the top of a snow bank last week. I didn't want to over the top and high center myself. I ended up using this function because its so precise.

I also have a "hike it" type pedal commander. If you set the unit to E(economy) and bump it all the way up, the throttle becomes very gradual. Also great for times when you need precision.

It was yes... when the jeep icon gets level (21+) it's down hill control and UP HILL controls.

It's like eating an orange in the shower. No one can explain it it just works.
