UPDATE 2: Based on member feedback and window stickers, this is what is currently known about which models get Selec-Speed and which get Hill-Descent..
• 2021 JL Wranglers -
Selec-Speed Control for the 2.0 turbo, the 3.0 diesel, and the 392.
Hill-Descent Control for the 3.6.
• 2018-2020 JL Wranglers -
Hill-Descent Control for all trims and engines.
• 2021 JT Gladiators -
Selec-Speed Control for all trims and engines.
UPDATE: This has been solved.
• Selec-Speed Control is standard on the 2.0 turbo+8 speed auto
• Hill-Descent Control is standard on the 3.6 + 8 speed auto.
———————————————
I noticed my 2021 JLUR has the Hill-Descent Control and not the better Selec-Speed Control.
Hill-Descent only applies the brakes on downhills whereas Selec-Speed is like cruise control for off-road and works for any terrain and incline.
Would anyone know why my newer Jeep only has Hill-Descent when older Jeeps came equipped with Selec-Speed? For example, I know of previous model year JLs that have the Selec-Speed Control instead of hill Descent control as it’s supposed to be a ‘standard feature’ of the 8 speed auto.
My 2021 JLUR is fully loaded and is equipped with the 8 speed auto tranny, yet I only have hill-descent control instead of selec-speed control.
Can anyone else chime in about this?
Which one do you have in your JL and what trim and model year is it?
Hill-descent control button similar to the one in my rubicon:
