UPDATE 2: Based on member feedback and window stickers, this is what is currently known about which models get Selec-Speed and which get Hill-Descent..
• 2021 JL Wranglers -
Selec-Speed Control for the 2.0 turbo, the 3.0 diesel, and the 392.
Hill-Descent Control for the 3.6.
• 2018-2020 JL Wranglers -
Hill-Descent Control for all trims and engines.
• 2021 JT Gladiators -
Selec-Speed Control for all trims and engines.

UPDATE: This has been solved.
• Selec-Speed Control is standard on the 2.0 turbo+8 speed auto
• Hill-Descent Control is standard on the 3.6 + 8 speed auto.

———————————————

I noticed my 2021 JLUR has the Hill-Descent Control and not the better Selec-Speed Control.
Hill-Descent only applies the brakes on downhills whereas Selec-Speed is like cruise control for off-road and works for any terrain and incline.
Would anyone know why my newer Jeep only has Hill-Descent when older Jeeps came equipped with Selec-Speed? For example, I know of previous model year JLs that have the Selec-Speed Control instead of hill Descent control as it’s supposed to be a ‘standard feature’ of the 8 speed auto.
My 2021 JLUR is fully loaded and is equipped with the 8 speed auto tranny, yet I only have hill-descent control instead of selec-speed control.

Can anyone else chime in about this?
Which one do you have in your JL and what trim and model year is it?

Hill-descent control button similar to the one in my rubicon:

My 2021 Sport, with the 850RE, has the Select Speed Control button as pictured in the quote.

My 2018 and 2019 JLUR's have Hill Descent Control and not the Selec-Speed control. In fact, I have never heard of the selec-speed control.

Thank you all for the inputs! Hopefully with more people chiming in, we will be able to find a pattern as to why certain Jeeps got the Selec-Speed and why others got Hill-Descent.

Both options are in my 2021MY user manual as “if equipped” features.

Just took this picture from my 2021 Rubicon.
I have the 4H Auto transcer case, aka RocTrac upgrade so maybe that is the difference?

Pretty sure it's because of the upgraded TCase. It's a $700 option here in Canada.

I would totally agree with this option coming with the full-time transfer case, except that @Mtenna99 just posted showing his part-time rock trac transfer case yet he also has the select-speed button:

2021 JLUR auto trans I see select speed control.

Looks the same as mine, there are 2 RocTrac options. I think we all have the upgraded one?

Very interesting indeed. We both have 2021 JLUR’s with the 8-speed auto and it looks both are similarly equipped, yet you have the selec-speed and I have the hill-descent.
My 2021 was built in August 2020 and purchased September 2020. I have every option except the Advanced Safety Group.

Do you have the advanced safety group by any chance?

The one thing you are missing which all of us others have is the 4H auto transfer case, aka RocTrac transfer case. That is an upgrade option above the basic Rubicon package.
Once again, I would agree with that except if you scroll up and look at @Mtenna99 post, you will see that he has the part-time rock-trac transfer case, and he has the selec-speed button instead of the hill descent button.
