Guys, we got it!
I looked at a couple more window stickers on jeep.com except this time, I chose the 2.0 turbo. Lo and behold, they both say “Selec-Speed Control” under the transmission listing!

it was indeed an engine thing!

Wtf? Why would they choose that option with the 2.0 engine only???
That’s another thread.........

Yet another reason the 2.0 is better! Lol. Now, I wonder if there is any actual physical difference when using it! Jeep meet at @DavidArmen place!

Crap, I'm not vaccinated, can't visit yet. Lol.

My exact question. It’s all software so why would it be related to the engine????

Haha a Jeep meet at my place would actually be pretty awesome?

Selec-Speed is definitely much better than Hill-Descent. Hill Descent only applies braking so you maintain desired speed when doing down a hill.
However, with Selec-Speed you can just put your desired speed and let the Jeeo drive for you, across a level surface, up a hill, and down a hill. The jeep will accelarate and brake all by itself and all you have to do is steer. So selec-speed is definitely a much better feature than hill-descent!

Ya, I was doing some research and SS is definitely better. I really do think this needs to be followed up.

I agree. The answer lead to even more questions! Such as why they did this based on the engine? And what does the 2.0 have that the 3.6 doesn’t have that it can’t support Selec-Speed??

The JT has it, which is not available with the 2.0 engine. I feel dizzy....

And here is the sticker to prove it...
3.6engine 8speed auto Gladiator rubicon comes standard with Selec-Speed Control.

Only other thing I see is that the Gladiator 3.6 is the non-eTorque version...unlike our 2021 JLs (we could only get the eTorque version if we chose the 8speed auto transmission).
Except it can’t be solely based on eTorque since previous model year 2.0 turbos have had eTorque and I believe they still had Selec-Speed Control, didn’t they?

Now we just need window stickers for (1) a 2018-2020 JL with the non-eTorque 3.6 and (2) 2018-2020 JL with the eTorque 2.0turbo to see if they have Hill Descent or Selec Speed, and we will know 100% if eTorque is the culprit.

And, that one doesn't have the upgraded TCase either. Lol.

I managed to miss most of the thread after I responded. This adds up for me too. I have 2.0 turbo as my engine and select speed control.
