Security/lock box solution other than Tuffy?

it seems all under seat spaces are gone in JL 4xe. Where do you keep things like laptop, purse, etc safe in a soft top?

I was looking at Tuffy tailgate security enclosure. But they have gouged price for JL like crazy. It was $269, now $529. They still have the one for JKU for like $269. Not sure if it's going to fit a JLU.

Is there any cheaper alternative?

JL tuffy for the 4 door at least hasn’t been $269 for a while, I paid a little more than $400 on a sale about a year ago so $529 sounds about right.

Ez trunk is another option, it’s got less closed off space but it’s cheaper at around $300 I believe.

I've done a fair bit of searching in prep of someday getting my order delivered... I think at this point I'm considering building my own lock boxes using plywood. Not only should it be cheaper I can make them exactly the size and shape I want.

the tuffy doesn't even fit the 4xe. i tried buying one used local and found out that the cargo space has lost like 2 inches of floor space so it won't fit.

Ouch, yeah then all you can really do is wait for sales or buy used, prices are getting worse and worse unfortunately. Ez trunk also doesn’t fit the 4xe perfectly either looks like, won’t lay flat. I’m not sure you have a good option honestly.
