I think I just saw a video on teraflex where the jeep kept putting itself into park because it was detecting some in the proximity....they parked another jeep side by side it. Ultimately they had to roll it out or use 4L.

Assuming that's real....I don' like it.

I' Also assuming that won' happen without the safety group

Here it is
Sigh.

One more thing to go wrong. I dont like stuff taking control, but the warnings are handy I suppose, none of it replaces common sense and head checks. backup sensors are a no brainer... shrugs

Did Teraflex leave the door open as a joke!? Or...not very competent if they didn't know what they were doing. Then publishing a video on it.

If it doesn’t let you back up when a door is opened does it turn off if the doors are removed?

I was going to get it bet decided not to. I would be turning off the park assist so as not to hear the beeping, and I do very little thruway driving for the lane assist to be of value. Maybe on the next jeep though.

I had this happen to me. And I had to look it up. The system is a safety device incase the driver falls out. If no seat belt is worn, and the door is open, the vehicle will stop itself from moving. Prox sensors do not cause this. If the doors are removed, the drivers seat belt needs to be worn, or it wont allow you to drive.

I've thought about writing this, but felt like I would be the guy saying "actually" like a d-bag at a party. But for those who don't want to spend the money, changing the way your side mirrors are directed will give you full view of your blind spot. We have to do driver safety training at work, and they tell everyone to angle the side mirror out. They suggest you place your head on the driver window and angle the mirror out until you see the side of your car. Then, with your seatbelt on, lean to the right as far as possible and angle the passenger mirror until you see the side of your car. I preferred to bring the mirror in just a bit from that location, but I'm sure it depends on driver position and vehicle. My main driving area was Central Phoenix - so 6 lanes+ of traffic and impatient people merging. I was driving an F150 supercab with a silvershield on it (If you've never driven with one it kills your sightlines). I also had a hardhat hanging in one of my backseat windows.

By putting the mirrors that way, vehicles move from my rearview, to my sideview, to my peripheral vision. You can also see vehicles 2 lanes over, and I personally try to avoid merging when someone could come in from back right or back left of me. I have all my vehicles set up this way now. The only problem I had was when I took it in for scheduled maintenance, the guys in the garage would put them back the old way.

I heard someone suggest this to the car talk guys (RIP Tom) and even they hadn't heard of it, but I love it, especially here where all our lanes are merge on and off and people think they should drive at least 10 mph below speed limit (20 mph below traffic mind you) when in this lane - maddening. So I'm always having to merge when some idiot in front of me is braking for no $#&@#*% reason. It seems weird at first, but you get used to it.

I've had people complain when driving my car, but when I get my Jeep, no I'm not letting someone else drive it! Problem solved.

THAT !!!
This is probably one of my favorite features on my Mustang, especially when you need to merge in !
I actually hate them in my Mustang. It makes a small mirror even smaller. Blind spot detection is a much better deal.

Just like firearms, safety is based on the operator one of the main reason why I went with a Wrangler was because the SafetyTec was optional.

I dont want to pay for things I don't need, like blind spot, park assist, cross path detection with auto braking. When I, as a human being; can do it all myself for free. So I hope it doesn't become standard, because this may be my first Wrangler, but I doubt it will be my last.

Finally joined the clan of jeepers.

Had a question re: the safety tec group.

Got a great deal on our JLU Sahara, but didn't have the safety tec group included. How difficult (if possible at all) is it to install the components (factory or otherwise) to my JL?

Thanks everyone!
