Don't have the feature on my Jeep, but my previous Tacoma and Outback both did that.

I have the FCW on, but active braking off. I've gotten enough false warnings when there has literally been nothing in front of me, that I'm more fearful of being the one rear ended.
My experience had been similar. Earlier this year I was travelling a straight road, one lane each direction, no vehicles behind me, none ahead of me and the closest oncoming vehicle was at least a 1/2 mile away. Cruising about 55 mph on a clear and sunny day and out of nowhere the Jeep decided it was a good time to apply full braking force, scared the crap out of me.
I disabled active braking immediately afterwards.

I must be lucky. I've never had a false reading with any of my Safety Group features. Would definitely buy them again. I'm fairly certain that they've saved my ass a few times and one missed collision pays for them. I still have not had the FCW braking activate, but the blind spot and backup warnings are worth their weight in gold - especially the lane change warning.
