Hi all. Few years ago I put a Rugged Ridge Spartacus bumper on my JL. It was a mess out of the box. Nearly every bracket was bent so I had to hammer them straight, welding flash landed in a bolt hole, could not mount bumper until they sent replacement, paint seemed to be very thin but hey, it’s Rugged Ridge I assumed it would be ok. It is now a rusty mess. Love my Jeep, hate the rusted mess. I contacted them, dealt with Bruce in customer service. Problem is I don’t have A receipt because the shop I was working at who i bought it through is now out of business and does not have access to their records.. yes, it’s my fault I don’t have a receipt, I get it. I’m hoping someone here can connect me with a big shot at Rugged who can see past the technicality of not having a paper. I’m disappointed they are “hiding” behind this policy. Bottom line, I’m their customer with their bumper, wheels, sill plates and a few other things. Spartacus bumper has been a wreck since day 1, I want them to stand behind their product. It’s clearly their product. I also told Bruce I’m bummed they can’t look up the shop I was working at so they can see record we bought it from them. Anyone have Rugged Ridge rust issues and any success working with them on it? Thanks all.

I had a rugged ridge bumper on my old JKU, and it rusted at the welds within a couple of months.

Your best bet is probably to pull it off and have it sand blasted and painted, powder coated, or sprayed with bed liner depending on the look your prefer.

There’s also the option of taking a wire brush to it and coating it yourself. Although expensive, I’ve been very impressed with the steel-it on my differential covers. Also, rustoleum bed liner matches the OEM textured black finishes very well.
