Rugged Ridge Spartacus HD Hinges

Hi I just upgraded to 37s on my JL and looking for decent hinges to reinforce the tail gate before I put my spare on. Anyone use the rugged ridge with 37s? It says it works with the factory mount but I am curious if the factory mount works with 37s. I have seen a lot of relocation brackets for it and just curious. I am also looking at Cavfab but looks like you have to paint that part. Also smittybuilt makes an all in one.

I saw that one, not really wanting to spend 1300 for it.

I can get the cavfab for 600 and have it powder coated.

I'm after the extra features the TeraFlex has to offer. CavFab has a good reputation, so that might be a good choice for you.

It works like it should. I had it with cheap Amazon relocation bracket and factory tire carrier, not issues. I since placed them with Teraflex tire carrier. The rugged ridge hinge works great with it, too.

I have the Teraflex Alpha HD tire mount and am considering going with the rugged ridge hinge rather than spending $800+ for the rest of the Teraflex hinge. I like the Cavab as well but would have to remove my Alpha mount for it. Awhile back when the JL first came out a lot of people talked about Rusty’s. Not sure if they still make a hinge now.

I have the Rugged Ridge hinge & Teraflex Alpha carrier for my 35s, no issue here other than a little rust on the RR bolts. I am running the 35s on the middle mounting location, it lowers the spare so it doesnt take up as much of my rear view vision which I like.

I never tried it with the stock carrier so couldn’t tell you if it would work.

Stock carrier with 35+ tire = Yes.
Teraflex carrier is adjust to accommodate up to 39.

Just get the CavFab. You are adding a ton of weight back there on the gate that isn't made to hold it. The hinges will help, but that gate itself is pretty flimsy. With the CavFab, the entire weight of everything back there is on the upgraded carrier and that carrier is going directly to the tub/frame on bigger hinges with an extra hinge bolt.

One of the best upgrades I have done on my JLUR. It would REALLY suck to have a carrier fail with traffic behind you.
