Hello friends,
I want to change the differential oil in my jeep.
I read a lot in all kinds of forums and did not come to a decisive conclusion! What oil do I need exactly? And what brand? And in my case, is there a difference between synthetic oil and normal oil and which is better for my jeep?
I have a 2020 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited.

I recommend OEM. I tried some fancy Amsoil, and it killed my mpg. I have never read a case that stock lube caused a failure.

Thank you for the answer, and what is the OEM for my jeep rubicon ? Can you put a picture? Or link for it?

75W-140 or 75W-90 is fine. Some will say 75W-140 at the rear if you are towing or doing heavy off-road activity. Even if you went 75W-140 across the board for extra peace of mind works. What you will find is folks saying this or that.

Amsoil is just as good as any other top brands out there. Everyone has their preference.

From the Jeep owner's manual if interested:

Is the rubicon with limited slip or without?

Rubicon has electronic locking differentials, not LSD. That picture with the Valvoline would be fine for your needs.

I would use what the Dealer uses for your vehicle in accordance with the owners manual.

And the manufacture of the Diff and axle...Dana...recommends 75w-140 for both front and rear diff's where Jeep recommends Mopar 75w-85. This confuses people.

That is Dana’s lingo for the m220 axle. Don’t overthink gear oil. You can use 75w90, or for extra protection at the expense of approximately 0.5% fuel economy, 75w140. Amsoil severe gear is excellent, but really anything will work well.

First stick with Mfg recommendations on oil weight by season. That said I rarely do anything besides the recommended Summer weight, but then I have lived in Scottsdale AZ, Texas, and Florida. My friends in Minnesota never put in summer weight.

Natural vs Synthetic: Syn is man-made and it has in most cases longer molecule chains and stronger ones. Oil itself has no life span attached to it as long as it never is overheated with breaks the chains. Oil starts breaking down at 275 degrees. If your oil ever reaches 250 degrees I would change it as the additives begin to burn off.

I recommend you stick with major oils: Shell, Mobil, Pennzoil, etc. Oils you don't find on the shelf at Wal-Mart are known as boutique oils. These are oils that are mfg by the refinery to a unique formula dictated by the mfg. The oil generally is focused on and end game: Racing, Drag, Oval, high temp engines, etc. This is based upon the use = increased % of additives to support that need. It's purposed based and they are good but expensive and unless you have a need there is little to be gained by using them.

+1 on the squeeze pouch. Makes the job so much easier. I used the Valvoline stuff but other brands come in them too.
