Do we have a consensus on Rubicon diff oil? I have read thru all the threads here, but I'm still confused. It seems Dana and Mopar advise different specs. Not sure who to believe!
So is it 75/90 front and 75/140 rear or do I just say screw it and use 75/140 all around?

You're about to get 200 different opinions, but Dana makes them for mopar..

I run 75/140 front and rear and don't think twice about it.

I replaced both front and rear with 75/140. Really no wrong answer as long as your at least meeting the requirements in the manual which I believe says 75/90.

For the most part its believed that Jeep goes with the lighter weight for CAFE standards and the fact that Dana recommends the heavier oil I will be going that way when I change mine.

Lots of threads on this already.

The trend is to run 75w140 since that is recommended by Dana-Spicer.

75w90 is the spec from Jeep, most likely because it gives you 0.01 MPG better and they need to get every last ounce of mileage out of the Wrangler.

I haven't seen any evidence of failure using 75w90. But 75w140 is probably the better choice.

I do 75/140 Amsoil Severe Gear and I change it every 15,000 miles. Have 49,000 on the Jeep right now.

That’s basically the conclusion I’ve come to as well. Thanks for the responses.

75W-85 is the OEM spec front & rear for the Rubicon, which is what I've stuck with (but have switched to aFe covers and Redline gear oil).

A thinner gear oil isn't just thrown in randomly by the factory, it's specified by the engineers in cooperation with Dana, which then builds the assemblies to spec (also quite likely different than their aftermarket units or rebuild kits offered).

People have their own opinions and are free to make their own decisions, but mine personally is to run high-quality fluids that meet OEM weight requirements.

I just put 75w-90 in my 2024 6mt Rubicon, the manual says 75w-85 for the M220 axles. 75w-140 for the M200 axles.

For gear oil, I think it's a lot more important to change it out frequently than split hairs on viscosity.
If I were towing I would use 75W-140 but I'm good with 75w-90 for my use which is like 90% on-road no towing, and 10% off road no towing.
