To all. One of the things we are seeing in this thread and many other threads regarding the JL is the spread of incorrect information, people trying to combine incompatible parts/components etc. This is common with many new platforms. A great source of knowledge is to call the manufacturers directly and go over every detail of your build! Most manufacturers are great and will do what they can to provide you the best information possible.

So, I post an issue, and it resorts to spreading misinformation and incompatible parts.

First, the shocks arent incompatible. For the price of this kit, like MC, brackets should have been supplied as you knew this was an issue. They weren't. Instead, I'm to buy YOUR shocks to get YOUR brackets, to use YOUR lift.

Secondly, referring to your spring seats as spacers was wrong of me. I could only assume, based on the amount of height I'm receiving, that you included it in the height of your lift. Otherwise, I'd be sitting at a little less than 2-3/8 over stock.

Third, and this is the most important part, every single time I've called, I've been given a different reason as to why it is what is. From the JL being 300 lbs lighter and indeed using JK springs, to your springs having a softer second rate, and it being affected by additional rate more(which, by the way, would make additional gear more of a detriment to the second rate, would it not?).

I've had a shop, who installs lifts on a regular basis, agree that mine is sitting lower than theirs, who is using the same lift. I've had another shop, with my jeep on location mind you, tell me that its sitting 2-3/8 above stock height.

Then, theres the performance aspect of the lift. The whole time I'm staring at this other JL and noticing the dramatic height difference from mine I'm thinking to myself "well, maybe it's called the X factor because it flexes so much the axles look like an X". Then the ramp comes and I'm left looking like I just threw on a rough country. It's no shock that JLs out the gate are more capable than ever, and my flex was nothing more than average across ALL generation of Jeep. For being the most capable Jeep ever produced, and purchasing the best RK currently has to offer at a price point also above everyone else, I was disappointed.

Now, I get that your kit is on probably thousands of jeeps at this point, but I'm willing to bet that an overwhelming majority will never use them to their full potential. I'm not one of those majorities. Every 18th of an inch counts, and I am highly underwhelmed. Not all of us have manufacturers, shops, laborers, or money to continually dump in our vehicles, so when I pay premium, I expect premium. Not 2-3/8 over stock.

You caught me in the garage, it measures at almost dead nuts 12.5”. Sahara with plastic bumper.
Im sitting at 12 1/4 with just spacers. Technically the front spring that you get is listed as a 1.5” on a jk. Guess it averages out to 2.5” on the jl?

Idk. I was asked to measure what mine netted me with the load on it in comparison to the 3.5” kit someone posted earlier. Only trying help out a fellow member out.

Where the bottom reference? I only get 11 from the plank the spring sits on.
Use the lip at end of the tape measurer to latch onto the underside of the spring seat that RK supplied. From there go directly up and measure the lip. Like picture of mine

From the round lip spring set mount RK provided it’s 11”, from the square edge it’s like 12.25.

Granted I have a lot of weight on mine, but yours is 2” higher.

What’s the height of your jeep to roof? There is a lot of data on this forum about overall height and tire size for garage clearance.

sounds like youre getting the full 2.5 then to me that measures same as my spacers. Another inch on top of that would make it equal out to OPs measurement at 13 1/4 equalling 3.5” right? I could be wrong Im not sure if rubicons net higher or lower than the other modles with the same spring lengths.

Except every other 3.5 JLU is reporting an inch higher than mine at every angle. From ground to frame in middle, from ground to spring perch in front, from ground to rear body mount, from axle to spring perch, from axle to fender, and on and on and on

Yeah im not denying yours seems off compared. If you purchased the 3.5 you should net 3.5 after installed i agree

I ordered from a friends shop, and verified through RK on the phone that the JK 2.5 coils are the same as the JL 3.5 coils.
Is it the pic angle or is it severely nose dived? Could just be the angle.

Now im confused, you were talking about fender distance first between your spacers and the new kit, that looks like a bigger gap to me, and technically you measure an inch over my 2.5. So what are we getting at here? You seem to be getting what they say you are getting, 3.5”. MC 3.5 nets 4+ thats fine and all but id personally consider that a 4” lift then no?

Again, the pic is misleading due to the weird opening at the front of the fenders. Seeing it in person, you can tell its lower. It's also, again, just shy of an inch lower than other JLs, trail equipped. Say I'm at 3.2 right now(which by about 2 days worth of measuring at two shops says I'm not) stock. A Sahara, with JCR bumpers, a tire carrier, a winch, and armor is sitting an inch higher than I am. Now, let's say the Sahara weighs less. Reasonable given the axles. The axles are unsprung weight. Maybe it's the locker switches? Who knows. What I do know is I'm sitting significantly lower than similarly equipped and some over equipped than mine.

We were not directing that comment at you. We are trying to help you figure out the situation and provide 100% accurate information. There is some misinformation in this thread by people posting that is why we stated to not make assumptions with the JL and how it may or may not relate the prior model Jeeps etc. We are trying to provide a solid forum environment with fact based information for all the see.
