Roadmaster Direct-Connect Question.

I'm finally getting my '21 JLU ready to flat-tow. I have a Roadmaster Falcon 2 tow bar, and I'm planning to go with the Roadmaster Direct-Connect base plate. I watched the install video and there's quite a bit of hacking to do on the metal and plastic rock guard/air dam. Are there any issues if I just leave both off the jeep? Are they really needed? I'd just like to not hack them up if I don't have to.
