I've spent time and $$ this winter getting my 2 door set up to tow behind my motorhome. I thought I was all dialed in and ready to roll unitl I came across some info that I need some sort of travel mud flaps ahead of the front wheels to prevent rocks from beating up the back of the motorhome. Does anyone have experience to share on this issue? I appreciate any advice you might have!

I've never heard of that. I tow my JLUR behind our motorhome and never worry about rocks flinging from the Jeep's front tires to the back of the MH. Some people put a shield in front of the Jeep to keep that from chipping but I've never felt the need to do that.

We towed our '03 TJ behind our motor home for 7-years and then our '10 Jeep Liberty for 12-years. I've never heard of front wheel mud flaps on the toad and we never had any rear end damage to either motor home.

Looking at your thumbnail picture, I see you have a stubby bumper, like I do. So I think it's absolutely plausible that rocks can fly forward from your tires, potentially damaging your tow vehicle. In fact some heavy-duty trucks (like dump trucks) use a mini mudflap on the front of the front fenders for this reason. You could get some nice Peterbilt mudflaps :)

I didn't notice any such damage on my motorhome's bumper after 4000+ miles from Alaska, and wouldn't personally worry about it, even if I had a fancy diesel pusher.

We’ve pulled our lifted JL equipped with 35’s over 18,000 miles and have never taken damage. I guess it’s feasible that a rock caught in the tread could get slung at just the right angle but I can’t say I’ve seen any evidence on the back of our coach.

I really appreciate all the experienced input! Sounds like it's a non issue so I think I'll roll without anything in front and see how it goes. Thanks to all!
