Tires are at 35psi, but due for a rotation. I have sound meter readings as a baseline now. Just for my own info, Im going to have the next service done and take some more readings just to see if the tire wear was adding to the noise.MY22 JLUR XR 3.6 torque w/SOT and 25k on 35ā KO2s and a MY24 JLUR X 3.6 non-torque w/SOT and 6k on 35ā KO2s, these are our first Jeeps and I honestly am amazed at how quiet they are. Neither wind noise or road noise is noticeable. I rarely exceed 65 to 70 mph. However, I do drive around 98% of the time with the SOT open and all windows down and half the time with the rear quarter panel windows out. This config is windy and noisy, but still not unbearably. I often take phone and conference calls while driving with the hands free Bluetooth and no issues. I try and keep the tires inflated (cold) at 33 to 35 lbs.
Iām going to speculate a couple of things:
1. Tires are worn improperly or they are way overinflated.
2. The 4 cyl Turbo engine is loud and sounds horrible compared to the 3.6.
3. Your other car is a Lexus
4. Iām old and deef
Just because I'm curious why do you self-censor the word Jeep in your post?i put a set of KO2s on my old J**p thinking they would be quieter than the BFG Muds i had been running most of its life, and got rid of the KO2s since they weren't much quieter.
if you've had those KO2s for a few years they're probably not as quiet as some other tires you could get. they get louder fairly quickly as they age/wear.
many people are reporting they're finding even more capable tires like the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs are quieter than the KO2s they used before.
i'd try getting some fresh rubber under it, then maybe move on to adding some sound deadening material if that's not enough improvement for you. the Sound Assassin material that i put in with my Hotheads headline made a pretty significant difference in perceived noise.
I'm down to ~62 dB in mine. Just keep chipping away at noise sources.Tires are at 35psi, but due for a rotation. I have sound meter readings as a baseline now. Just for my own info, Im going to have the next service done and take some more readings just to see if the tire wear was adding to the noise.
Ive never driven the 3.6 but donāt have any complaints the turbo engine, its been very responsive, fuel efficient and can certainly get up & go when I need it to.
Your kind of right, the other car is a Lexus TX350, but thats my wifeās
I actually dont hear very well, im constanly having to ask people to repeat things.
This is a pretty good assessment and one that I'm inclined to agree with. OP would be a lot happier in something other than a Wrangler.āYou bought the wrong vehicleā , per current thread, and in agreement with others. Take your Jeep, Pinkslip and checkbook to a Toyota dealer.![]()
you apparently will be much happier.
seriously- not a smart a$$ useless comment.
For an unparalleled off road focused vehicle your Jeep performs spectacularly compared to itās predecessors on road. Sound included.
Mental Illness.Just because I'm curious why do you self-censor the word Jeep in your post?
Thisā¦could actually be a big part of the issue, the perception that the Jeep is too loud, or that you canāt hear yourself think while driving it.I actually dont hear very well, im constanly having to ask people to repeat things.
So if hes running 38's he's probably really doing 128mph. I'd say thats acceptable.I used a DB meter app on my iPhone, hereās a couple readings at 75mph, windows up, hardtop with OEM headliner + Redhead add on kit, OEM carpet, diesel engine, overhead light bar with six 7ā round lights, two 8ā bumper mounted lights, 38ā tires. Not the most aerodynamic rig

Yep he's right. I have the ability to not hear my wife when her voice hits a certain decibel level. Must have been all those damn Jeeps.Thisā¦could actually be a big part of the issue, the perception that the Jeep is too loud, or that you canāt hear yourself think while driving it.
Hearing loss can be total, or it can be certain frequencies. If you haven't already - because I'm going through this with family right now and it's on the tip of my mind - it's important to get screened if you haven't been already...
