So, I'm guessing you're not a topless, doors off, left foot on a foot peg kina guy.

I have the factory sound dampening features and hardtop, and the Jeep is quiet inside at any speed, like riding in a car. Even at 80mph.
I prefer it stripped down and try to keep it that way once it gets warm as much as possible. Alpine system heard pretty clear when cranked to 28 at 75mph, which is as fast as I go when it's that way (only to avoid being an obstruction on I-10).

Thanks for all the input guys, very helpful.

Some asked about the tires, they are BFG’s AT KO2’s.

I really cant clarify whether it’s road or wind noise. The only way I can describe it is this noise is coming from everywhere. I cant listen to the radio, barely can carry on a conversation.

Im considering test driving a hardtop with street tires and take some DB readings @ highway speed.
Just go drive another one at the Dealer. Then tell the dealer to go drive yours., then the service manager, then the senior tech, then the guy that puts the paper mat on the floor and the cone on top. It doesnt sound right, every one seems to. not have the issue. To each his own. Good luck and let us know..

MY22 JLUR XR 3.6 torque w/SOT and 25k on 35” KO2s and a MY24 JLUR X 3.6 non-torque w/SOT and 6k on 35” KO2s, these are our first Jeeps and I honestly am amazed at how quiet they are. Neither wind noise or road noise is noticeable. I rarely exceed 65 to 70 mph. However, I do drive around 98% of the time with the SOT open and all windows down and half the time with the rear quarter panel windows out. This config is windy and noisy, but still not unbearably. I often take phone and conference calls while driving with the hands free Bluetooth and no issues. I try and keep the tires inflated (cold) at 33 to 35 lbs.

I’m going to speculate a couple of things:

1. Tires are worn improperly or they are way overinflated.
2. The 4 cyl Turbo engine is loud and sounds horrible compared to the 3.6.
3. Your other car is a Lexus
4. I’m old and deef

I was giving this some serious thought. Is the damn thing installed correctly? And thats for sure, Jeeps aren't like a BMW

I have a '24 Sahara with the 3 piece hardtop on the stock Bridgestone Dueler H/T tires so road noise is not a problem. But at highway speeds, wind noise is very noticeable. So much so that my wife complains about it.

So this summer I plan to line the hardtop with Dynamat and put in a Coverking Topliner. If my wife still complains about the wind noise, I'll add the full Boom Mat headliner package over the Topliner. I am hoping with all of that installed it will cut down the wind noise by about 4 or 5 db.

If anyone else has already done this please let me know what your experience is.

Yeah thats why I said "Im not expecting it to be as quiet as a luxury car".

To avoid useless comments..........too late for that
Then why start this thread if you know the answers

I took a very long approach to sound deadening. I worked 30 years in construction without hearing protection and then finally purchased my Jeep in 2016. Voila!

In all seriousness I find any fabric top to be annoyingly loud to where the benefits do not outweigh the cons if you’re a daily driver. I tried my soft top for 1 season and even with my suspect ears I will never ever get tricked into that nonsense again.

Hardtop, quality At tires (no mud terrains) and the sound level inside is very respectable even with a gobi rack, shovel, awning and all the other things up there necessary to take the kids to soccer practice.

Now my wife’s bronco with the hardtop and factory roof rack is loud AF. Terrible, absolutely terrible.

Look, real talk man, if you care enough about road noise to even consider buying a decibel meter to check how loud it is, a Jeep really probably ain't for you. The lack of insulation from the outside world is a feature in a Jeep, not a bug. That said, every single iteration of JL top configuration that exists is as bougie as a convertible Jeep has ever been, it doesn't get better. IMO, cut your losses and get a normal vehicle that's more suited to your sensibilities.
