I feel your pain. I remember how frustrating it was but once I finally got it to grab it did fine. I don’t know if it’s the coating that makes it so hard or what.
In one corner, it just seems it’s a tad further away (back) than where i need it to be.
I’ve tried adjusting everything. Drivers side at first was same thing but after I adjusted I got it to catch and all went in, good to go.

No bueno on passenger side though.

I almost feel like I need the screw to be a little longer

I just don’t know any other possible way to adjust it to get it any closer. Believe me I tried for more than 2 hours

ArrrrRRrrrrrrghhhhh!!! Lol

Sounds like the exact same issue I had. Try switching the screws around and starting with that one first. I don’t exactly remember what I did.

It’s what I’ve been doing.

going to try and tackle it again tomorrow. If I go back in the garage right now… I’ll probably just sit there and cry:facepalm::CWL:

I appreciate the response’s dude.
Hopefully it will work out for me tomorrow 🙏

For what its worth.. I had same issue when mounting the outer aluminum shell and I had issues figuring out the skid plate mounting points and which bracket to use. I switched my bolts around and eventually got the one problematic bolt to bite a few threads. Here's my setup and I think it came it great.

If you're looking at new bumpers I highly recommend rivals. I have installed rival4x4s stubby aluminum bumper and I can't say enough good things about them. Everything from quality to installation is top notch. Even the steel winch plate was easier to install than warns for the steel stock bumper. It's a bonus that it's aluminum to help she weight while maintaining enough reinforcement with the steel winch plate. Pics below and trust me it looks even better in person!!

This is one of the best looking bumpers for the JL. In your front pictures, the bumper seems higher on the passenger side. Did you used a leveling bubble to align it?

Hey guys thanks for reaching out. I ended having to go to my local hardware store to get the same M10 screws (just longer) that resolved my issue.

Also thanks to @klawrence3 for his time and effort

Here’s 1 pic…been waiting for a super nice day and when I had time before I posted some proper
Pics.

Here’s one I took

How are these bumpers holding up? Are they easy to bang up and scratch to hell or are they providing the protection you expected?
