So I was about to order new rims as im rubbing with my 3.5" metal cloak setup, and even hitting the swaybar end links when flexed and turned.

Im not looking to go crazy on price and my buddy has a set of the rocktrix rims . he has a sport with 4.5" backspacing and to be honest I hate the look, I hate how much the wheels stick out.

I was about to order the same ones because well, what choice do I have (not going with spacers), but then I thought what about the 5.5+12mm version? Since I have a Rubicon doesn't the axles already have a little more legnth then the sports version? basically with the 5.5" backspacing work?

AEV uses +25, which I think is a good compromise, especially for wide axle. A Sport can get away with +12 without having the tires sticking out.

yea AEV charges over double the price and they're even heavier. no thanks.

That said Seems Im FU#$@ either way, either I have goofy looking tires sticking way out, or take a chance with a slight offset/backspace and still hit. sucks

As a data point for you, I have 3.5" Metalcloak GC lift and 37s. I'm running Jeep XR wheels and I get no rubbing on street or the trail. Whatever the backspacing of those wheels, might be a good target for you. I also don't like my tires to stock way out, either.

Do you have some photos of your setup and exact tire size? I was thinking of doing the same setup on my ‘24 Rubicon 4xe but was worried the wheels aren’t wide enough and might cause some “vagueness” in steering response on highway.

XR wheels reportedly 12mm offset. FWIW- no vagueness with 35/12.50’s on stock 7.5”-44mm wheels

I'll snap a photo looking down the fenders tomorrow so you can see how much tire poke I have.

Tires are BFG Mud Terrains, KM3. 37x12.5R17. I'll measure the tire height and width as it sits, tomorrow. I have played around with the tire pressure from 25 to 37 for daily driving. I've found I like the firmness and mpg of 34 psi. Lower PSI was noticably softer, but I was losing about 1 to 2 mpg with it and I notice the Jeep wanted to "pull" to the downward slope side of the road more.

Also, I don't think anyone answered it yet. Yes, you have the wider axles from the factory.

On your driver's side front wheel, what's the distance from the top of the tire tread to the bottom edge of the fender?

Yes rubi axles are wider than sport/sahara which makes a difference. Rubi can run wheels with more backspacing before hitting anything. All the factory mopar wheels are pretty narrow which helps.

Thats a sport model right? so with those same rims on a rubicon its going to stick out even further correct?

Yep I know.. Just killing me to spend that much on rims right now.

I hate spacers but I'm so close to just saying screw it and buy 1" spacers and be done with all of this
