My rear XR rims started rubbing when I went to 30.5” shocks and minimal bump. -12 offset fixed it by about 1/4”.As a data point for you, I have 3.5" Metalcloak GC lift and 37s. I'm running Jeep XR wheels and I get no rubbing on street or the trail. Whatever the backspacing of those wheels, might be a good target for you. I also don't like my tires to stock way out, either.
