I am on the fence about regearing and have a few questions. Got quotes which are reasonable, i think. Would be rehearing my JL rubicon 6 spd to 4.88 revolution gears. From what i've read these are ok.
This doesn't include the 500 mile diff oil change. No biggie. I can get that done by my local mechanic I assume.

I know any warranty work is basically out the window, i get that. What could potentially go wrong? There is a 2 year warranty on the parts of the regear. I imagine if it works for 2 years it should work forever.
Has anyone had a regear and had problems down the road?
I love the look of the bigger meatier tires but for someone that doesn't wheel, I wonder if it's worth the time and expense for me.

Probably nothing wrong with revolution gear. I went with spicer because that’s what was available. Your warranty with them sounds good. As long as your installer will honor it.

Warranty work is all out the window. Likely just anything related to your axles.

If you want to get worse mileage then get bigger tires! Lol. Also, you should think about changing out the fluid yourself at 500 miles. It’s easy and there are how to videos out there to help. Plus you’ll get a good look at the gears and some familiarity with how to do it just in case you peel back a diff cover while off roading.

I already have the bigger tires and the drive is sluggish so that's what's making me think the regear. My mileage is at 14.9 with the stock gears. I can assume it should get better after the regear?
I also wonder too if the engine will be ok after the regear, but I assume so since even a lot of people run bigger tires without a regear and don't have failing engines.

You’ll have to get a programmer for the new gears but your engine will have less work to do because the gears will provide mechanical advantage!

I went 5.13’s with my 6 speed. And I get about 15mpg exactly with 37’s. Didn’t have 35’s long enough to test mileage. It’ll go up on summer gas.

That's not that bad considering the size of tire. I'm not going bigger than 35s. I'm not a youngster, so getting in it would be more work even with my power steps.
