I think you are right, and also for appearance. I can't imagine it has any additional function or anything more technical or sophisticated than that.

removed mine as well quite some time ago. It actually says engine beauty cover on it next to the mopar part number

Ok, so I was curious and some dudes here don't take pics. So I resorted to self help for me and others who want to see what it looks like (my Jeep is on order so I can't really go out the driveway and take it off).

These are random pics from ebay, etc. All I can say is . . .some things just look better with their clothes on.

So, uh, I would look myself but my Jeep is on order. So I can't. Unless I imagine I have a Jeep and pretend to do it, or make a reminder to myself to remember this thread in a month or two, and then remove the cover because people that did it, and made a internet post about doing it, and talked about how good it looked, and could take a pic, but did not. But I may forget about this post by then, so a pic now would really be helpful. But that's okay. You can just call me lazy instead.
