Will the 2.0L 4 Cyc Turbo engine start/run if the lithium ion battery dies or is removed?

Yes.

It would still start and run like normal. Not many would miss the ess, but you'd unfortunately also lose the extra boost in torque in the lower rpm's. The next question is if it would have a negative impact on the charging system, and how many dash warning lights lit up from its absence?
