2018 wrangle JL sahara. I took to dealer finally to get odometer fixed due to 999,999 error. They looked at it and said all the updates are all updated and that there was nothing for them to do. So I still get intermittent 999.999 coming up on odometer and now my remote start does not work. Is there a relationship to this? Should I go on J scan to attempt to get remote start to work?

@BordenPT

So, are you saying that remote start was working, the JL went to the dealer for a day or two and now remote start suddenly is not working?

IF this is the case then more then likely your 12v is low. Dealer working on it, multiple start ups and then little to no driving has depleted 12v.

IF your battery(s) are healthy you can trickle charge and then remote start working again.

And.... Do know that if your gas tank is near empty, engine compartment hood open, door ajar ....that remote start will not work.

Also.... IF you used JSCAN to defeat ESS then that will step on Remote Start..

I did have both batteries replaced over a year ago but how can I check if they are low?
Gas tank is never low and I do not think hood is open or door ajar. I did not understand what you meant be scan to defeat ESS?
thank you for your reply!

Mine gets all 9's occasionally, sometimes 800F for outside temp, the upper left setting on EVIC changes from its setting, and sometimes it starts blank. It's a startup issue that is probably software related, but it's no big deal and fixes itself eventually. Don't sweat the small things. It's a Jeep, not a Lexus.

I had the same issue just at a year ago, I had my batteries tested and both failed on low CCA’s and high internal resistance.

I replaced both batteries and all is good, I will point out that I’m running a Genesis Gen 2 battery setup.

Someone else had the remote start issue and I believe it was a body control module. You could try a hard reboot of everything by disconnecting both batteries for 10 minutes. You also might get lucky by re-seating the large harness connector behind the passenger fender liner. This solved some gremlins I had a few months ago.

The issue with all 9s on the odo and cluster are not related to your remote start. You need to have the cluster reflashed to fix the issue. I had the same issues with the cluster. As for the remote start, it could be any number of things.

Just ignore the 999999 issue. Until the cluster fails it isn’t worth fixing.

Your remote start is unrelated. Do you have any active warnings on?

So by reading other threads on remote start I found I could look on dash and it said door not closed. They all were but the back door behind driver the interior dome light didn’t come on. I found the small purple wire in nylon covering was broken and sliced it and that solved the remote start issue.
Regarding the 999,999 I did take to dealer and showed them the TSB on reflashing and they checked and told me everything is up to date and they can’t fix it. So for now I ignore it but it does occur several times a day.
also thinks to Rhinebeck01 i did disconnect my aux battery.
