Question. My Jeep came off the lot with only a soft top and is not set up for a rear wiper or defroster. However, I am considering buying a hard top and was wondering if it’s possible to remove the rear wiper mechanism and plug the hole. I have no interest in adding the wiring. I’ve seen this done on other vehicles for aesthetic purposes, but I don’t have a hardtop to examine. Anyone have any info if this is possible? I realize I could just leave the wiper but would rather have nothing than a wiper that is pointless.

Very easy to delete, I have no use for a rear window wiper. If you decide to try this send me a pm and I can tell you how I did this.

Bingo. That is exactly what I am looking to do! Seeing a non working wiper will annoy me and wanted more of a truck cap handle. As soon as I secure my hardtop I’ll message you.

Remove wiper motor and cover ends of wires with either heat shrink or electrical tape. Zip tie to keep wire from moving around. I think I re-used the rubber grommet, installed stringer washer with T handle, cut some rubber hose ( pieces had lying around ) installed expanding rubber nut sert then on the inside a fender washer and nut. All of this was what I had lying around my shop. The rubber hose and the expanding nut sert was used to take up the space of the large I.d. of the rubber grommet and to keep everything centered. Just being creative here. All you really need is something to fill the i.d. of the rubber grommet with a hole for the t handle rod and the fender washer and nut on the inside. I also disconnected the plug inside as nothing will be needed for powering anything on the rear glass. I also do not need the heated rear window. Good luck. This was fun for me.

Rear window wipers are just plain ugly and useless.
Useless? Thats a bit of a stretch. Maybe if you live where there is zero precipitation but I have never had a vehicle in such dire need of a rear wiper than a Wrangler where I live. Lol.
