Is it possible to just replace the blade itself on the rear wiper on a 2019 JLU and not the whole arm? My blade is coming apart. TYIA

@agpthng

Yes, you can replace just the blade. I use Bosch H306 for the rear.

If you want to stick with Mopar, you buy - Rear Wiper Blade: Mopar 68362105AA.

Second the motion on Bosch:

Been using the premium Bosch ICON wiper blades for two seasons now (New each Fall), am very happy with them. The rear OEM-style wiper blade worked better this year after ordering the correct number, last year the blade frame was the wrong number and didn't fit the arm. Had to pretend it was a Honda blade by sliding the rubber part out, holding the metal reinforcement strips, and sliding in carefully.

To my surprise, they actually had a rear wiper blade at Walmart. There was only one choice. I think it was a basic Rain-X, comparable to any other entry level wiper blade. Anyway, it fit just fine. Installation was simple.

And you didn't have to take the whole arm off, it was just the "blade"?

Right.

Swing the spare tire out of the way, so you have access to the arm. Lift the arm away from the glass. Grab the side of the blade that is sitting between the arm and the glass, and pull it around, as though you wanted to flip it 180°.

About 2/3 of the way through the arc, the tabs and slots should line up so that you can pull the blade off. There is a notch in the arm where the large mounting cylinder goes, and there are a pair of grooves that accept the small alignment tabs. Once you get the blade lined up correctly, you will be able to pivot it back into its resting position.

Lower the arm, return the spare tire, and you're done.

Also, I still had the packaging. It's a Rain-X Expert Fit Rear R-12-B blade. It fits my 2021 rear wiper perfectly. No hackery involved. Plug and play.

I just used this thread for reference (thanks everyone). Bosch Direct fit rear wiper part number is R1217 for a hardtop. The system at or O’Reilly Auto says 1218 is the one for the hardtop. This is INCORRECT, 1217 fits, verified.

Also O’Reilly Auto Parts has $8 off per pair right now.

Bosch has many wiper blade models, perhaps too many. The Bosch website https://www.boschautoparts.com/ lists 13 (!!!) different models for the windshield wiper blade for a 2018 JL Wrangler! Only 2 (thankfully) for the rear: R1217 Spectrum line and H306 Bosch OEM Style (that I have). In comparison on their website, the H306 has a steel frame with 11" blade, the R1217 Spectrum has a plastic frame with 12" blade.

I thought my H306 frame was plastic, whatever. I'll check the material and length in daylight and when this looming winter storm is over...

I suspect either Rear Wiper Blade will work fine for all of us. Choosing among the 13 Front Wiper Blades might be another story, as many are weather application/season specific.

YMMV!

Good Luck!

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread.

Has anybody had any issues using a 13" blade on the rear instead of the standard 12" blade? I did this on my old JK Rubicon without any issues. I like the idea of getting as much viewable area as possible.
