My LCA mount is getting beat by rocks. I’m considering armor for them from Metal Cloak.. any others people like? Anyone ever had serious damage here or should I just hammer it back when it gets tweaked?

had the same issue with my old JK, so I got the EVO Rockstar skids and they worked wonders. Got similar mount/skids on my JL now. I’ll see next week how well they work on Dusy-Ershim. I obviously expect similar results.

Added them on my 392. Definitely took hits on the trail I was a couple weeks ago and did their job. Would recommend if you dont go the weld on route.

Might as well show a pic of the main skid and how it protected the exhaust crossover

I have some from Rockhard4x4. All of the bolt on style from reputable brands look pretty similar.

I agree with the thoughts of @Zandcwhite
“Finding out after the fact that you needed a winch or skid plates is like finding out after the fact that you needed a condom. Could be an expensive, painful, long, or even deadly lesson. I guess protection only works if it's there before you NEED it?”

After a lot of research I went with the metal cloak option before I took it off road for the 1st time in hopes to save the brackets after seeing what my poor WJ brackets looked like after years of wheeling.

I'll second the Rockhard's. They were nice and beefy and they saved me from some damage the first time I took the Jeep offroading after I installed them. Money well spent!

Here’s a shot of the Metal Cloak skids after one trip to The Rubicon, control arms still get a little bashed. I’ll say that rear shock mount would have been pretty damaged if it wasn’t for the skids. Highly recommend them.

As others have suggested, worth it. I got the Rough Country ones for $50.

The Rancho LCA skids are very stout, don't hang down any further than absolutely necessary and come powder coated red. (I had mine powder coated black at one of the many local powder coaters) Also, at just $175-185 per pair, a great value!

I got the artec industries sliders a couple years ago and they are great.

But damm, they are $154 for the set now. I’m pretty sure I got a veterans discount back then.

i'll second the Artecs.

several options, but even the bolt-ons have worked well for me.
considering how low these things are, i think they're mandatory for anyone going off-pavement, yet they're frequently overlooked.
